Clinical features, risk factors, and short-term outcome of ischemic stroke, in patients with atrial fibrillation: Data from a population-based study
Conclusions: Ten percent of stroke patients had AF. They were older, had multiple risk factors and worse outcome. There was no gender difference in this large cohort.

Clinical correlates of leukoaraiosis: A study of 175 patients
This study was designed to investigate the factors which correlate with LA. Materials and Methods: We included patients with LA who consented for the study and graded their severity on the basis of Fazekas scale. We excluded patients with LA who did not consent/cooperate for the study as also patients with other white matter changes which mimic LA. Results: LA is a common and under-rated cause of disability. Study: Medtronic touts increased AF detection with Reveal Linq system
Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) today released 1-year results from a study of patients who experienced a cryptogenic stroke, claiming that its Reveal Linq insertable cardiac monitor was able to detect atrial fibrillation at a greater rate than previously reported in a 2014 clinical trial. Nonvitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants in everyday practice: Stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation and treatment of venous thromboembolism
ConclusionsAll four NOACs are equivalent to or better than warfarin for the treatment of VTE and stroke prevention in AF, and may reduce the risk of bleeding complications, particularly intracranial bleeding. Implications for practiceNOACs may benefit some patients by avoiding the numerous food or drug interactions and frequent laboratory monitoring associated with warfarin. Adherence to proper dosing is critical for NOAC efficacy and safety.

Stroke remains to be a leading cause of disability. However, optimal strategies can prevent up to 80% of strokes. Pattern and risk factors of stroke in the young among stroke patients admitted in medical college hospital, Thiruvananthapuram
Conclusion: In all, 15% of total stroke occurred in young adults <50 years. The proportion of hemorrhagic stroke in young adults is higher than in elderly. Atrial fibrillation is identified as an independent risk factor of stroke in the young. Compared with stroke in elderly alcohol use, smoking, hyperlipidemia, and cardiac diseases, which are known risk factors, are higher in young stroke.
