In ‐hospital outcomes of transcatheter versus surgical aortic valve replacement in non‐teaching hospitals
ConclusionsTAVR conferred similar in ‐hospital mortality and major peri‐procedural complications compared with SAVR in non‐teaching hospitals. For those with limited access to teaching hospitals, non‐teaching hospitals appear to be a reasonable option for candidates of aortic valve replacement for severe aortic stenosis.

Transcatheter versus surgical aortic valve replacement in patients at low surgical risk: A meta ‐analysis of randomized trials and propensity score matched observational studies
ConclusionsIn patients who are at low surgical risk, TAVR seems to be associated with increased mortality risk. Until more data in this population is available, SAVR should remain the treatment of choice for these patients.

Transubclavian approach: A competitive access for transcatheter aortic valve implantation as compared to transfemoral
ConclusionsOur study suggests that TSc approach may be, not only an alternative route to TF approach for TAVI, but even a competitive one in certain patients with increased risk of femoral injury.

Comparative outcomes of transcatheter aortic valve replacement in African American and Caucasian patients with severe aortic stenosis
ConclusionsThere was no significant difference in the utilization rates, in‐hospital outcomes, and cost of TAVR between Caucasians and AA patients in contemporary US practice. Further comparative studies of surgical and TAVR in AAs and other racial minorities are warranted.

Comparison of local versus general anesthesia in patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement: A meta ‐analysis
ConclusionOur meta‐analysis suggests that use of LA for TAVR is associated with a lower 30‐day mortality, shorter procedure time, fluoroscopy time, ICU LOS, hospital length of stay, and reduced need for inotropic support.

Direct percutaneous transaxillary implantation of a novel self ‐expandable transcatheter heart valve for aortic stenosis
ConclusionsOur study suggests that the implantation of the second‐generation self‐expandable ACURATE Neo™ via a transaxillary access is technically feasible and safe and yields excellent short‐term clinical results. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

End ‐stage renal disease and severe aortic stenosis: Does valve replacement improve one‐year outcomes?
ConclusionsPatients with ESRD and severe AS have a similar and higher survival with TAVR or SAVR when compared to BAV at 1‐year. These results may influence patient care decisions favoring valve replacement in AS patients with ESRD. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Procedural and 30 ‐day clinical outcomes following transcatheter aortic valve replacement with lotus valve: Results of the RELEVANT study
ConclusionsRELEVANT study showed that TAVR using Lotus, in a real‐world population of patients with severe aortic stenosis at high surgical risk, was associated with excellent device success implantation and early safety according to VARC‐2 definition. The pacemaker implantation rate was about a third of patients. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Prospective comparison between three TAVR devices: ACURATE neo vs. CoreValve vs. SAPIEN XT. A single heart team experience in patients with severe aortic stenosis
ConclusionsIn a “real world” registry, ACT compared favorably against the well‐studied SXT and MCV devices in both safety and efficacy. MCV implantation was associated with lower device success rates and higher rates of new permanent pacemaker implantation. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

The outcomes of transcatheter aortic valve replacement in a cohort of patients with end‐stage renal disease
ConclusionsPatients with ESRD who undergo TAVR are at high risk for mortality and complications. TAVR outcomes are comparable to but not substantially better than those with SAVR. Transfemoral TAVR seems to be at least as safe and effective as the current standard SAVR in patients undergoing aortic valve replacement. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Efficacy and safety of transcatheter aortic valve replacement in intermediate surgical risk patients: A systematic review and meta‐analysis
ConclusionsIn this meta‐analysis we found that TAVR may be an acceptable alternative to SAVR in patients with intermediate risk for surgery. However, we must await evidence from the current large randomized trials before widespread adoption of this procedure is undertaken. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Echocardiographic determinants of LV functional improvement after transcatheter aortic valve replacement
ConclusionsIn patients undergoing TAVR with depressed LV function, those who failed to improve were more likely to have relatively higher LVEF, SV, and SVI; and lower E, E/E′, and PASP at baseline. Mortality rates were found to be higher in persistent LV dysfunction group. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
