Effect of drug use in the treatment of acute ischemic stroke: A scoping review
CONCLUSION: Evidence for thrombolytic and thrombectomy treatment in drug users remains limited. Controlled studies are needed to examine complication profile and outcomes following thrombolytic and thrombectomy treatment in this population.PMID:36128166 | PMC:PMC9479649 | DOI:10.25259/SNI_561_2022

E-191 Influence of socioeconomic factors on the development of post-stroke depression in aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage survivors
ConclusionThe overall risk of developing a new depression disorder after aSAH was 16% in this retrospective study. The female sex was close to 4 times and substance use were six and half time more likely to develop new depressive symptoms; therefore, these risk factors should be considered when screening patients for depression after aSAH.Disclosures D. P-029 Impact of in-hospital delirium on outcomes of acute ischemic stroke
ConclusionsDelirium complicates ~3.5% of AIS admissions, and is associated with increased risk of in-hospital death, longer stay, higher charges and decrease in likelihood of home discharge.Disclosures D. Is nontraumatic intracerebral hemorrhage different between young and elderly patients?
This study investigated the clinical characteristics and outcome of nontraumatic intracerebral hemorrhage in young patients in comparison to those of the elderly. A retrospective review of consecutive patients admitted at the department of neurosurgery of two tertiary care medical centers presenting with first-ever nontraumatic intracerebral hemorrhage was performed. We identified and compared the demographics, etiologies, risk factors, and laboratory, radiological, and clinical findings between elderly and young patients. Additionally, logistic regression analyses of independent prognostic factors associated with 1-month ...

Streptococcus mutans with Collagen-Binding Protein: From Oral Cavity to Brain
In this study, the authors found a statistically significant relationship between CNM positivity and cardioembolic stroke, noncardioembolic stroke infarct, and ruptured intracranial aneurysms. Also, it is app reciable that authors ruled out a significant relationship between CNM positivity and other risk factors, such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, smoking, and alcohol consumption.

Risk factors for post-operative respiratory failure among 94,621 neurosurgical patients from 2006 to 2013: a NSQIP analysis
ConclusionsBased on the NSQIP database, risk factors for respiratory failure after neurosurgery include pre-operative ventilator dependence, alcohol use, functional dependence prior to surgery, stroke, and recent operation. The overall rate of respiratory failure decreased from 4.1  % in 2006 to 2.1 % in 2013 according to these data.

P-008 Evaluating Racial/Ethnic Disparity in Endovascular Thrombectomy Outcome for Acute Stroke Patients: 4,763 patients using Premier data 2011 to 2015
ConclusionsThere were no differences in hospital outcome among races/ethnicities in endovascular thrombectomy outcomes for acute stroke patients in the Premier data. Racial/ethnic disparities play role for patients’ selection not for patients’ outcome in endovascular thrombectomy.DisclosuresS. Park: None. M. Pilot: None. M. Neurological outcomes and cure rates of embolization of brain arteriovenous malformations with n-butyl cyanoacrylate or Onyx: a meta-analysis
Conclusions NBCA continues to have a trend towards lower permanent complication rates, but EVOH had higher angiographic cure rates. The recent literature has demonstrated an increase in the cure rate of AVMs with endovascular embolization techniques yet with a possible increase in permanent neurological deficits and mortality.

Delayed and disorganised brain activation detected with magnetoencephalography after mild traumatic brain injury
Conclusions Patients with mTBI showed significant delays in the activation of important areas involved in executive function. Also, more regions of the brain are involved in an apparent compensatory effort. Our study suggests that MEG can detect subtle neural changes associated with cognitive dysfunction and thus, may eventually be useful for capturing and tracking the onset and course of cognitive symptoms associated with mTBI.
