Pathogeny of cerebral venous thrombosis in SARS-Cov-2 infection: Case reports
We describe 2 cases of women admitted during the spring of 2020 for intracranial hypertension signs, in stroke units in Great-east, a French area particularly affected by COVID-19 pandemia. Diagnoses: Cerebral imaging revealed extended CVT in both cases. The first case described was more serious due to right supratentorial venous infarction with hemorrhagic transformation leading to herniation. Both patients presented typical pneumonia due to SARS-Cov-2 infection, confirmed by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction on a nasopharyngeal swab in only one. Interventions: The first patient had to undergo ...

Bivalirudin in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention and independent predictors of postoperative adverse events in these patients: A real world retrospective study
The efficacy and safety of bivalirudin in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has always been a hot topic in perioperative antithrombotic therapy, but there are still some controversies. So studies are needed to provide more evidence, especially the real world study which includes patients excluded from previous RCT studys. Our study aimed to investigate these information and analyze the independent predictors of postoperative adverse events. A retrospective study enrolled 1416 patients underwent PCI in Tianjin Chest Hospital from May 2016 to October 2017. The incidence of stent-thrombosis and net clinical adverse ...

Anticoagulant management by low-dose of low molecular weight heparin in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation following hemorrhagic transformation and complicated with venous thrombosis: Five case reports and literature review
For patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) following hemorrhagic infarction (HI)/hemorrhage transformation (HT) and complicated with venous thrombosis, the management of anticoagulation is controversial. Our study intends to explore the safety and effectiveness of using low-dose of low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) to treat NVAF patients with HI (or HT) and complicated with venous thrombosis. Between January 2018 and January 2019, NVAF related acute ischemic stroke patients with HT/HI, hospitalized in the department of neurology or rehabilitation in our hospital, are enrolled retrospectively. Among them,...

Association of clinical and laboratory variables with in-hospital incidence of deep vein thrombosis in patients after acute ischemic stroke: A retrospective study
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a serious complication in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Early prediction of DVT could enable physicians to perform a proper prevention strategy. We analyzed the association of clinical and laboratory variables with DVT to evaluate the risk of DVT in patients after AIS. AIS patients admitted to the Changsha Central Hospital between January 2017 and December 2019 with length of stay in hospital ≥7 days were included. Clinical and laboratory variables for DVT at baseline were collected, and the diagnosis of DVT was confirmed by ultrasonography. Independent factors were developed...

Simultaneous cardio-cerebral infarction in the coronavirus disease pandemic era: A case series
Conclusion: Early recognition and immediate treatment is important in different scenarios leading to thrombosis as the outcome. Additionally, addressing the unknown risks that could contribute to our traditional understanding of these causative mechanisms is important. The hypothesis of exacerbated damage caused by inflammatory and immunological endothelial systemic damage should further be explored to be able to delineate new possibilities in managing these conditions.

Does the CHA2DS2-VASc scale sufficiently predict the risk of left atrial appendage thrombus in patients with diagnosed atrial fibrillation treated with non-vitamin K oral anticoagulants?
The CHA2DS2-VASc scale does not include potential risk factors for left atrial appendage thrombus (LAAT) formation such as a form of atrial fibrillation (AF) and impaired kidney function. The real risk of thromboembolic complications in AF patients is still unclear as well as an optimal anticoagulant treatment in males with a CHA2DS2-VASc score of 1 and females with a CHA2DS2-VASc score of 2. The aim of this study was to compare the predictive value of the CHA2DS2-VASc scale and other scales to estimate the risk of LAAT formation in AF patients treated with non-vitamin K oral anticoagulants (NOACs) and to assess the preva...
