Diabetes and thrombolysis for acute stroke: a clear benefit for diabetics
ConclusionsData from this nationwide survey show that diabetic stroke patients receive a substantial benefit from thrombolysis, and therefore diabetic strokes should not be excluded from thrombolytic treatment.

The risk of ischaemic stroke in primary APS patients: a prospective study
ConclusionsPatients with PAPS, including young patients, have a high risk of recurrent thrombosis despite anticoagulation treatment. A careful risk assessment is mandatory to identify patients at risk for recurrence. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.

The risk of ischaemic stroke in primary antiphospholipid syndrome patients: a prospective study
ConclusionsPatients with PAPS, including young patients, have a high risk of recurrent thrombosis despite anticoagulation treatment. A careful risk assessment is mandatory to identify patients at risk for recurrence.

Impact of anemia on in ‐hospital complications after ischemic stroke
ConclusionAnemia is an independent predictor of in‐hospital complications following stroke, especially for pneumonia, GIB and thromboembolism. Whether prophylaxis and treatment of anemia would prevent in‐hospital complications remains to be studied. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.

The syndrome of transient headache and neurological deficits with cerebrospinal fluid lymphocytosis mimicking an acute stroke
ConclusionsThe decision to thrombolyse or perform an LP in HaNDL patients mimicking a stroke is difficult in the acute setting. Perfusion CT can provide misleading results and CTA may be useful in ruling out occlusion of a cerebral vessel.

Symptomatic post ‐thrombolytic intracerebral hemorrhage is not related to the cause of stroke
Conclusions The development of sICH in IVT‐treated patients is not related to the cause of stroke.

Impact of intravenous thrombolysis on recanalization rates in patients with stroke treated with bridging therapy
ConclusionsRelevant recanalization after IVT and prior to EVT in patients receiving bridging therapy was highly dependent on the occlusion site. These findings suggest that future randomized controlled trials should consider occlusion site and treatment paradigm to specify patients who benefit most from bridging therapy in comparison to EVT or IVT alone.

Intravenous thrombolysis for acute ischaemic stroke in patients on direct oral anticoagulants
ConclusionsIn this expert opinion paper, it is suggested that IVT can be performed in patients selected according to the time elapsed since the drug was last taken, renal function, type of hospital where the patient is admitted and plasma concentration of DOAC.

Endothelial markers are associated with thrombolysis resistance in acute stroke patients
ConclusionsRecanalization after thrombolytic therapy is associated with low sTM and sEPCR levels but not with vWF levels. If corroborated in further larger studies, these findings could be helpful in the identification of patients resistant to rt‐PA thrombolysis who could benefit from a modified recanalization therapy.

Post ‐thrombolytic blood pressure and symptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage
ConclusionsPatients with post‐thrombolytic sICH have significantly higher systolic BP at several time‐points compared with patients without sICH.

Susceptibility vessel sign on T2* magnetic resonance imaging and recanalization results of mechanical thrombectomy with stent retrievers: a multicentre cohort study
ConclusionsThe success of recanalization in acute stroke patients treated with stent retrievers was related to thrombus length but not to the presence of SVS.

Multiple sclerosis clinical course and cardiovascular disease risk – Swedish cohort study
ConclusionsThere is a significantly increased relative risk for CVD in MS, particularly for venous thromboembolic disorders in progressive MS, suggesting immobility as a possible factor. An increased frequency of ischaemic stroke in MS is most probably due to surveillance bias resulting from diagnostic investigations for MS. There is no increased relative risk for ischaemic heart disease in MS and atrial fibrillation appears to be less common than amongst the general population.

Symptomatic intracranial haemorrhage after thrombolysis with adjuvant anticoagulation in basilar artery occlusion
ConclusionsThe risk of sICH was largely determined by extension of ischaemic changes on admission computed tomography. Clinically relevantly, also higher post‐thrombolytic SBP as described earlier and lower perithrombolytic platelet counts do increase the risk, a finding requiring confirmation in other patient series.
