Mechanical thrombectomy in low Alberta Stroke Program Early Computed Tomographic Score: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
CONCLUSION: Mechanical thrombectomy for patients with large infarcts is associated with improved functional outcomes and a similar safety profile compared to optimal medical management. Ongoing trials will help better refine the target population that benefits the most from treatment.PMID:37574930 | DOI:10.1177/15910199231193464

Predictors of intracranial hemorrhage in acute ischemic stroke after endovascular thrombectomy.
CONCLUSIONS: Patients with diabetes mellitus were vulnerable to hemorrhagic transformation, whereas those who underwent several attempts of thrombectomy were susceptible to isolated subarachnoid hemorrhage. Both hemorrhage types worsened the functional outcome. Treatment with the stent retriever was significantly associated with postprocedural isolated subarachnoid hemorrhage. SOFIA catheter for direct aspiration of large vessel occlusion stroke: A single-center cohort and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: The DA approach for LVOS with the SOFIA catheters is highly effective with an efficacy and safety profile comparable to those found in contemporary thrombectomy trials and observational studies that use other devices or approaches.PMID:33818182 | DOI:10.1177/15910199211005328

5F SOFIA intermediate catheter in the treatment of acute ischemic stroke: A retrospective observational study
CONCLUSION: 5F SOFIA intermediate catheter could be a safe and effective treatment for AIS and a viable alternative to 6 F conventional intermediate catheters in selected cases.PMID:35929099 | DOI:10.1177/15910199221118145

Early neurological deterioration as a predictor of outcomes after endovascular thrombectomy for stroke: A systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Broadly defined, END holds value as a potential predictor of rates of mRS 0-2 at 90 days and is associated with higher rates of mortality and sICH, but had no correlation with TICI 2b-3.PMID:36285526 | DOI:10.1177/15910199221135289

Mechanical thrombectomy alone versus with thrombolysis for ischemic stroke: A meta-analysis of randomized trials
CONCLUSIONS: In this meta-analysis of six RCTs, MT alone was comparable to MT plus IVT for mRS 0-2, sICH, mortality, and distal embolization; however, MT alone resulted in lower rates of TICI 2b-3. Further trials are needed to determine which patient populations benefit from MT plus IVT and to increase the power of future meta-analyses.PMID:36734138 | DOI:10.1177/15910199231154331

Flat-panel dual-energy head computed tomography in the angiography suite after thrombectomy for acute stroke: A clinical feasibility study
CONCLUSION: We demonstrate that intra-procedural DE-CBCT after thrombectomy is feasible and provides clinically meaningful images. There was close agreement between findings on DE-CBCT and standard DECT. Our findings suggest that DE-CBCT could be used in the future to improve stroke thrombectomy patient workflow and to more efficiently guide the postoperative management of these patients.PMID:36788203 | DOI:10.1177/15910199231157462
