Benchmarking Outcomes of Surgical Aortic Valve Replacement in Patients with Bicuspid Aortic Valves
CONCLUSIONS: In this nationally-representative study, 30-day mortality was similar but risk-adjusted 5-year mortality was significantly lower in bicuspid patients undergoing isolated SAVR compared to tricuspid patients, specifically low-risk and normal left ventricular ejection fraction patients. Race and Socioeconomic Disparities in Proximal Aortic Surgery
CONCLUSIONS: Patients of Non-White race undergoing proximal aortic surgery have less insurance coverage, more urgent procedures, and a higher comorbidity burden than White patients; which translates to Non-White patients having significantly higher morbidity. Aortic valve repair decreases risks of VRE in AI at 10 years: a propensity score-matched analysis

Prosthesis selection for aortic valve replacement with concomitant coronary artery bypass graft
CONCLUSIONS: Long-term survival, overall reoperation, or stroke incidence was comparable among the two groups, while patients with a mechanical valve showed a greater likelihood of major bleeding events. Valve-Sparing Root Replacement vs Composite Valve Grafting in Aortic Root Dilation: A Meta-Analysis.
CONCLUSIONS: Aortic valve sparing appears to be safe, and associated with reduced late mortality, thromboembolism/stroke and bleeding compared with composite valve grafting. Direct Cannulation in Minimally Invasive Cardiac surgery with limited resources.
CONCLUSIONS: In our experience, this approach is a reliable platform for a variety of MICS procedures and has resulted in low complication rates. The technique can be applied safely to both paediatric and adult population. Also, it is very cost effective as regular instruments and cannulas are used. Long-term outcomes with mechanical versus biological aortic valve prosthesis in patients > 70 years.
CONCLUSIONS: Mechanical aortic valve prosthesis is associated with worse long-term survival and increased bleeding after SAVR in patients aged >70 years.
