Herpes Zoster and the Risk of Stroke in Patients With Autoimmune Diseases
ConclusionIn patients with autoimmune diseases, incident HZ was associated with as much as a 2‐fold increased risk of stroke in the subsequent few months. These data underscore the urgency of developing strategies for reducing the risk of varicella‐zoster virus.

Risk of Myocardial Infarction and Stroke in Patients with Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis: A Population‐Based Study
Conclusion: GPA patients have a significantly increased risk of MI, with a non‐statistically significant trend towards increased risk of ischemic stroke. Monitoring for this complication and vigilance in modifying risk factors is particularly warranted in this patient population, especially early after diagnosis. Risk of Myocardial Infarction and Stroke in Patients With Granulomatosis With Polyangiitis (Wegener's): A Population ‐Based Study
ConclusionPatients with GPA have a significantly increased risk of MI and a non–statistically significant trend toward an increased risk of ischemic stroke. Trends in Hospitalizations Due to Acute Coronary Syndromes and Stroke in Patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, 1996 To 2012
Conclusion: Increased awareness of the burden of CVD in patients with SLE has not yet translated into decreases in hospitalizations for acute myocardial infarction or stroke. This may be due to barriers in implementation of CVD risk factor modification, or SLE‐specific risks that have not yet been identified or effectively targeted. This article is protected by copyright. Changes in mortality patterns following total hip or knee replacement over the past two decades: A nationwide cohort study
Conclusion: Mortality rates following elective THR and TKR have decreased substantially since the early 90s, despite operated patients having more comorbidity. These findings are reassuring for patients undergoing elective THR or TKR. © 2013 American College of Rheumatology.

A16: Long‐term follow‐up of 36 Pediatric Antiphospholipid Syndrome Patients: A Retrospective Study
Conclusion:Despite of prophylaxis with anticoagulants, new thrombotic events occurred in 25% of the patients and reaching the ideal prothrombin time to prevent thrombotic episodes was the major challenge, as nearly half of the patients had hemorrhagic events. Studies are necessary to identify ideal parameters for treating and monitoring children with antiphospholipid syndrome.

Hip osteoarthritis and the risk of all‐cause and disease‐specific mortality in older women: Population‐based cohort study
Conclusion RHOA was associated with an increased risk of all‐cause and CVD mortality among older white women followed for 16 years. Dissemination of evidence‐based physical activity and self‐management interventions for hip OA in community and clinical settings can improve physical function and might also contribute to lower mortality.
