Cardiovascular Safety of Tocilizumab versus Tumor Necrosis Factor Inhibitors in Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis – a Multi‐database Cohort Study

Risk of Myocardial Infarction and Stroke in Patients With Granulomatosis With Polyangiitis (Wegener's): A Population ‐Based Study
ConclusionPatients with GPA have a significantly increased risk of MI and a non–statistically significant trend toward an increased risk of ischemic stroke. Monitoring for this complication and vigilance in modifying risk factors are particularly warranted in this patient population, especially early after the diagnosis of GPA.

Trends in Hospitalizations Due to Acute Coronary Syndromes and Stroke in Patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, 1996 To 2012
Conclusion: Increased awareness of the burden of CVD in patients with SLE has not yet translated into decreases in hospitalizations for acute myocardial infarction or stroke. How hand osteoarthritis, comorbidity and pain interact to determine functional limitation in older people: Observations from the eposa study
Conclusions. Study results have demonstrated that although comorbidity was decidedly and independently associated with hand functional limitation, it has no effect on the hand OA‐physical function relationship. Hand OA was found to be associated with self‐reported as well as with performance‐based physical function impairment; the association was found to be partially mediated by pain, which reduces its impact. Association of Osteoarthritis With Increased Risk of Cardiovascular Diseases in the Elderly: Findings From the Progetto Veneto Anziano Study Cohort
ConclusionOA may be a significant predictor of the onset of CVD in elderly individuals, particularly in women with OA and when OA affects the lower limbs or ≥2 joints are involved.

Hip Osteoarthritis and the Risk of All‐Cause and Disease‐Specific Mortality in Older Women: A Population‐Based Cohort Study
ConclusionRHOA was associated with an increased risk of all‐cause and CVD mortality among older white women followed up for 16 years. Dissemination of evidence‐based physical activity and self‐management interventions for hip OA in community and clinical settings can improve physical function and might also contribute to lower mortality.

A16: Long‐term follow‐up of 36 Pediatric Antiphospholipid Syndrome Patients: A Retrospective Study
Conclusion:Despite of prophylaxis with anticoagulants, new thrombotic events occurred in 25% of the patients and reaching the ideal prothrombin time to prevent thrombotic episodes was the major challenge, as nearly half of the patients had hemorrhagic events. Studies are necessary to identify ideal parameters for treating and monitoring children with antiphospholipid syndrome.
