Abstract
Hypertension and atherosclerosis, the predecessors of stroke and myocardial infarction, are chronic vascular inflammatory reactions. Tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα), the "master" pro-inflammatory cytokine, contributes to both the initiation and maintenance of vascular inflammation.
