230 Sydenhams chorea in an elderly patient
79 year old gentleman presented with multiple involuntary limb movements, initially referred to the acute medical unit as a seizure. After initial triage, he was managed as a dystonia. Patient was seen by ITU, and neurology opinion was requested. On consultant review, the ‘dancing type’ involuntary movements in limbs and in the face pointed towards a generalised chorea with mild athetosis of the left side, with expulsive speech.
