Secondhand smoke (SHS) exposure increases the risk of lung cancer, stroke, coronary heart disease and respiratory problems. Among children, SHS exposure is associated with: increased risk of respiratory infections (including asthma, bronchitis and pneumonia); severity of asthma symptoms, middle ear infections; and sudden infant death syndrome.
