Health of people with selected citizenships in Germany: prevalence of non-communicable diseases and associated social as well as migration-related factors
DISCUSSION: Given the importance of subjective sense of belonging to the society in Germany and self-reported experience of discrimination for the health outcomes studied, the results point to health inequalities among people with selected citizenships that may indicate mechanisms of social exclusion.PMID:37728772 | DOI:10.1007/s00103-023-03767-4

Effect of invitation letter in language of origin on screening attendance: randomised controlled trial in BreastScreen Norway
CONCLUSIONS: No difference in attendance was observed between immigrant women invited to BreastScreen Norway in their language of origin and in Norwegian compared with Norwegian only. Several barriers to cancer screening may exist among immigrants, and translating the invitation is probably only a part of a complex explanation.TRIAL REGISTRATION: NCT04672265.CLINICALTRIALS: gov NCT04672265.PMID:37726122 | DOI:10.1136/bmj-2023-075465

How to optimize the use of diuretics in patients with heart failure?
Kardiol Pol. 2023 Sep 18. doi: 10.33963/v.kp.97315. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTConsidering the pathophysiology and the clinical presentation of heart failure, the use of diuretics or drugs with diuretic properties are indispensable for an adequate management of heart failure patients. However, in clinical practice, fluid expansion is often undiagnosed and diuretic therapy is not always adequately titrated. Today, several drug classes with diuretic properties are available in addition to classical thiazides, thiazide-like and loop diuretics. The purpose of this short review is to discuss the different ways to optimize di...

Sustainable pathways for attaining net-zero emissions in European emerging countries - the nexus between renewable energy sources and ecological footprint
This study aims to investigate the relationship between renewable energy and ecological footprint during the period of 1994-2018 from selected developing countries in Europe (Czechia, Croatia, Poland, Romania, Romania, and Turkey). In this context, the ecological footprint (EF), which has recently been the most widely used environmental indicator in the literature and is known as the most comprehensive because it includes many environmental factors, has been determined as the dependent variable. As independent variables, renewable energy consumption (REC), energy-related tax revenue (ETR), and energy productivity (EP) are ...
