Baicalin improved hepatic injury of NASH by regulating NRF2/HO-1/NRLP3 pathway
This study indicates that baicalin is able to attenuate hepatic cell pyroptosis in vivo and in vitro in the case of NASH by regulating the NRF2/HO-1/NRLP3 pathway.PMID:36184988 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejphar.2022.175270

Ursodesoxycholic acid is an FFA4 agonist and reduces hepatic steatosis via FFA4 signaling
This study not only identified a new skeleton of FFA4 agonists, but also demonstrated that FFA4 signal was accounting for the protective effects of UDCA in the NAFLD treatment.PMID:35033554 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejphar.2022.174760

Thymosin beta 4 alleviates non-alcoholic fatty liver by inhibiting ferroptosis via up-regulation of GPX4
This study revealed that Tβ4 protects hepatocytes by inhibiting the GPX4-mediated ferroptosis pathway, which provides a new strategy and target for the treatment of NAFLD.PMID:34280397 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejphar.2021.174351

Geniposide alleviates diabetic nephropathy of mice through AMPK/SIRT1/NF- κB pathway.
The objective of this study was to explore the antidiabetic nephropathy effects of GE both in high fat diet/streptozotocin-induced DN mice and in high glucose-induced podocyte model. Renal function in DN mice was evaluated by levels of serum creatinine (Scr) and blood urea nitrogen (BUN). Renal inflammation was appraised by pro-inflammatory cytokines: Tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α), Interleukin 6 (IL-6) and IL-1β via ELISA assay. Renal histopathology analysis was conducted via hematoxylin and eosin, Masson and periodic acid-silver metheramine staining. Cellular viability was measured by Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transf...

Resveratrol attenuates high fat diet-induced mouse cardiomyopathy through upregulation of estrogen related receptor- α.
Resveratrol attenuates high fat diet-induced mouse cardiomyopathy through upregulation of estrogen related receptor-α. Eur J Pharmacol. 2018 Oct 17;: Authors: Lu Y, Lu X, Wang L, Yang W Abstract Resveratrol reportedly promotes the improvement of cardiac dysfunction and other cardiovascular diseases. Studies demonstrate resveratrol exhibits a set of benefits, including anti-oxidative property, anti-apoptosis and anti-inflammation. However, the molecular mediators of resveratrol-induced cardiac benefits are still not fully disclosed. Present study aims to investigate whether estrogen-related receptor (...

Inhibition of lipolysis by ilexgenin A via AMPK activation contributes to the prevention of hepatic insulin resistance.
Abstract Adipose dysfunction links tightly to hepatic insulin resistance and gluconeogenesis. Ilexgenin A is reported with the ability to regulate lipid profile and protect the liver against high fat diet (HFD) -induced impairment. Here, we propose that ilexgenin A ameliorates hepatic insulin signaling and gluconeogenesis by regulating lipolysis in white adipose tissue (WAT). Pyruvate tolerance test and biochemical analysis coupled with the ex vivo siRNA knockdown and co-culture studies demonstrate that ilexgenin A suppresses inflammation-associated lipolysis in epididymal fat pad via 5'-AMP-activated protein kina...
