Resveratrol improves high-fat diet-induced insulin resistance in mice by downregulating the lncRNA NONMMUT008655.2.
The objective of this study was to investigate whether RSV improves high-fat diet-induced insulin resistance in mice by regulating thelncRNANONMMUT008655.2 in vivo and in vitro. To this end, animal and cell insulin resistance models were developed. Specifically, C57BL/6J mice were fed a high-fat diet (HFD) and administered RSV for eight weeks. Additionally, mouse Hepa cells were treated with palmitic acid, transfected with siRNA NONMMUT008655.2, and treated with RSV. Treated mice and cells were then compared to normal controls that were not exposed to RSV. In the animal model, RSV was found to decrease the levels of fastin...

SiRNA silencing of VEGF, IGFs, and their receptors in human retinal microvascular endothelial cells.
Authors: Nicolau Y, Bany-Mohammed F, Cai CL, Aranda JV, Beharry KD Abstract Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is a potent mitogen that regulates proliferation, migration, and tube formation of endothelial cells (EC). VEGF has recently become a target for severe retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) therapy. We tested the hypothesis that a specific VEGF isoform and/or receptor acts synergistically with insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-I to alter normal retinal microvascular EC angiogenesis and RNA interference can be used to reverse VEGF effects. We used small interfering RNA (SiRNA) transfection to target VEGF i...

Neuroprotective effect of miR-665 against sevoflurane anesthesia-induced cognitive dysfunction in rats through PI3K/Akt signaling pathway by targeting insulin-like growth factor 2.
This study suggests that miR-665 might be explored as a potential target of therapy for sevoflurane-induced cognitive impairment. PMID: 28386360 [PubMed]

PGC-1 mediates the regulation of metformin in muscle irisin expression and function.
CONCLUSION: Our study demonstrates that Metformin stimulates irisin secretion from skeletal muscle into the circulation system of obese mice, and that PGC-1α is a critical regulator in this process. PMID: 26692929 [PubMed]
