MiR-199a-5p enhances neuronal differentiation of neural stem cells and promotes neurogenesis by targeting Cav-1 after cerebral ischemia
CONCLUSION: MiR-199a-5p may target and inhibit Cav-1 to enhance neurogenesis and thus promote functional recovery after cerebral ischemia. These findings indicate that miR-199a-5p is a promising target for the treatment of ischemic stroke.PMID:37349971 | DOI:10.1111/cns.14323

Long non-coding RNA H19 promotes leukocyte inflammation in ischemic stroke by targeting the miR-29b/C1QTNF6 axis
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings confirm that H19 promotes leukocyte inflammation by targeting the miR-29b/C1QTNF6 axis in cerebral ischemic injury.PMID:35322553 | DOI:10.1111/cns.13829

The AMPAR antagonist perampanel protects the neurovascular unit against traumatic injury via regulating Sirt3.
CONCLUSION: Our results indicate that the noncompetitive AMPAR antagonist perampanel protects the NVU system and reduces brain damage after TBI via activating the Sirt3 cascades. PMID: 33421349 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Biphasic roles of pentraxin 3 in cerebrovascular function after white matter stroke.
Abstract Recent clinical studies suggest that pentraxin 3 (PTX3), which is known as an acute-phase protein that is produced rapidly at local sites of inflammation, may be a new biomarker of disease risk for central nervous system disorders, including stroke. However, the effects of PTX3 on cerebrovascular function in the neurovascular unit (NVU) after stroke are mostly unknown, and the basic research regarding the roles of PTX3 in NVU function is still limited. In this reverse translational study, we prepared mouse models of white matter stroke by vasoconstrictor (ET-1 or L-Nio) injection into the corpus callosum ...

Poldip2 mediates blood-brain barrier disruption and cerebral edema by inducing AQP4 polarity loss in mouse bacterial meningitis model.
CONCLUSION: Poldip2 inhibition alleviated brain edema and preserved the integrity of BBB partially by relieving the loss of AQP4 polarity via MMPs/β-DG pathway. PMID: 32790044 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

The Involvement of Programmed Cell Death 5 (PDCD5) in the Regulation of Apoptosis in Cerebral Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury.
CONCLUSIONS: PDCD5-induced apoptosis and over-expression of PDCD5 are harmful to the ischemic neurons in vivo. Meanwhile, the inhibition of PDCD5 may be protective via reducing the apoptotic-related protein such as p53, Bax, and caspase-3. This observation may have potential for the treatment of ischemic cerebral stroke. PMID: 23638963 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
