Eczematous Lesion of Nipple and Areola Treated with Individualised Homoeopathic Treatment
Homœopathic Links DOI: 10.1055/s-0040-1721808Breast and nipple–areolar complex has its own functional, sexual and cosmetic values. The skin around nipple and areola is prone to develop several kinds of infections during different stages of life ranging from mild-to-moderate dermatitis to neoplastic growths. Lack of knowledge of the patients about breast hygiene and the spectrum of the breast diseases among medical practitioners renders prompt diagnosis; hence, it develops several complications from its own array. Apparently, an uncommon presentation of dermatitis sometimes causes several complications at different stage...

The use of complementary and alternative medicine in children with atopic eczema at a tertiary care centre in Malaysia.
CONCLUSION: CAM use was prevalent among children with AE. Its use was significantly associated with AE severity from a parental perspective. Healthcare providers may need to enquire parents about CAM use for their child during routine clinic appointment. PMID: 32147044 [PubMed - in process]

Assessment of Likelihood Ratio for Four Contact Dermatitis Symptoms of Vinca Minor.
CONCLUSION:  There was insufficient evidence to attribute any of the four assessed symptoms clearly to VM. Though non-significant, a high LR was observed for "itching amelioration in open air" (symptom 3). Symptoms in the homeopathic materia medica for VM are perhaps over-represented. More research of this nature is warranted. PMID: 29783275 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

What's new in atopic eczema? An analysis of systematic reviews published in 2012 and 2013. Part 2. Treatment and prevention
Summary This review provides a summary of key findings from 22 systematic reviews on atopic eczema (AE) published over the 2‐year period from January 2012 to 31 December 2013, focusing on prevention and treatment of AE. For an update of systematic reviews on the epidemiology, mechanisms of disease and methodological issues, see Part 1 of this update. Based on current systematic review evidence, the most promising intervention for the prevention of AE is the use of probiotics (and possibly prebiotics) during the late stages of pregnancy and early life. Exposure to household pets, especially dogs, may also be protective, b...

Complementary and Alternative Medicines and Childhood Eczema: A US Population-Based Study.
In conclusion, multiple CAMs are commonly used for the treatment of eczema in US children. However, some CAMs may actually be harmful to the skin and be associated with higher eczema prevalence in the United States. PMID: 25207686 [PubMed - in process]

What's new in atopic eczema? An analysis of systematic reviews published in 2010–11
Summary This review provides a summary of key findings from 24 systematic reviews of atopic eczema (AE) published or indexed between 1 August 2010 and 31 December 2011, updating published summaries from previous years. Epidemiological evidence points to the protective effects of early daycare, endotoxin exposure, consumption of unpasteurized milk, and early exposure to dogs, but antibiotic use in early life may increase the risk for AE. With regard to prevention of AE, there is currently no strong evidence of benefit for exclusive breastfeeding, hydrolysed protein formulas, soy formulas, maternal antigen avoidance, omega...

Clinical verification in homeopathy and allergic conditions.
CONCLUSIONS: The choice of homeopathic medicine depends on the presence of other associated symptoms and 'constitutional' features. Repertories should be updated by including results of such clinical verifications of homeopathic prescribing symptoms. PMID: 23290880 [PubMed - in process]
