The Role of Positron Emission Tomography for the Management of Sinonasal Malignancies: A Systematic Review
CONCLUSIONS: In general, and across all types of sinonasal malignancies, PET scan yielded positive results regarding detection and initial staging. It was also considered as the modality of choice for detection of distant metastases, except in the case of sinonasal lymphoma. PET scan's main limit resides in its inability to detect lesions in or close to the metabolic activity of the brain.PMID:37229633 | DOI:10.1177/19458924231177854

Unplanned 30-Day ER Visit Rate and Factors Associated With ER Visits After Ambulatory Sinus Surgery
CONCLUSION: The most common reason for ER visit after ambulatory sinus procedures was bleeding. An increased ER visit rate was associated with certain demographic factors and medical comorbidities but not with procedure characteristics. This information can help us identify the patient populations who are at higher risk for ER visits to improve their postoperative recovery.PMID:37198899 | DOI:10.1177/19458924231174686

Rhinologist Use of Antibiotics With Nasal Packing for Epistaxis
CONCLUSIONS: Antibiotic use in patients with epistaxis controlled with nondissolvable packing is common. Treatment patterns are influenced by geography, years in practice, and practice type.LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: 4.PMID:37194285 | DOI:10.1177/19458924231176394

Endoscopic-Modified Medial Maxillectomy for the Nonfunctioning Maxillary Sinus
CONCLUSION: EMMM is a robust approach for salvaging a nonfunctioning maxillary sinus. The procedure enhances nasal irrigation, supplants mucociliary clearance, and discourages dependent mucus retention.PMID:37183422 | DOI:10.1177/19458924231175848

The Role of Fractional Exhaled Nitric Oxide in Diagnosing Asthmatic Type 2 Chronic Rhinosinusitis With Nasal Polyps
CONCLUSION: FeNO is a useful marker for screening asthmatic T2-CRSwNP even prior to biopsy or asthma evaluation and may assist in selecting a proper treatment.PMID:37160729 | DOI:10.1177/19458924231173205

Histopathological Differences in Adult and Elderly Patients With Chronic Rhinosinusitis
CONCLUSION: Sinonasal tissue of adult and elderly patients with CRS demonstrates clear histopathological differences. Patient comorbidities, in addition to histopathological characterizations, may provide further context for management optimization.LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: 2.SHORT SUMMARY: Sinonasal tissue samples from adult and elderly patients with CRS demonstrate clear histopathological differences. These patient populations also exhibit unique comorbidities. These distinctions have the potential to inform and optimize management of this condition.PMID:37160727 | DOI:10.1177/19458924231172078
