House dust mite allergy and shrimp allergy: a complex interaction.
Conclusions. Shrimp allergy seems to occur uniquely in association with hypersensitivity to HDM allergens and tropomyosin is the main shrimp allergen but not a major one, at least in Italy. Along with tropomyosin-specific IgE levels, monosensitization to HDM seems to represent a risk factor for the development of shrimp allergy among HDM allergic patients.

Skin tests and challenge-based drug allergy diagnosis: a retrospective study of patients with confirmed drug allergy.
Conclusions. Most drug allergy diagnoses were based on multistep DCT. The identified predictors of DCT interruption during up-dosing can support the development of more personalized DCTs protocols.

The psychological impact of food allergy and undergoing a food challenge test in adult age.
Conclusions. People who have a food allergy excluded following a food challenge have better HRQoL. There was a significant improvement in HRQoL following an open food challenge which supports the need to increase provision of food challenge testing in this age group.

The oral food desensitization in the Italian allergy centres.
CONCLUSION: Although OFD may sometimes be successful and may be considered a valid alternative to an elimination diet, further randomized controlled trials are needed, in order to clarify some controversial points, such as the characteristics of the child undergoing OFD, and the methods of food preparation and administration. Moreover, further studies should further investigate OFD safety, efficacy and costs.

Impact of allergy on children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
Conclusion. Children with ADHD had an increased prevalence of allergic diseases. Evaluation of allergy in ADHD is mandatory, to decrease the burden of the condition.

A very unusual case of food allergy, between FPIES and IgE-mediated food allergy.
We describe an unusual case of FPIES to egg in a 21-months-old child, because of its clinical characteristics that reflect some aspects of IgE-mediated allergy and other of non IgE-mediated allergy. Although we believe that the most correct diagnosis for our case is FPIES, we think also that this is undoubtedly an atypical form. This is in fact, the first description of a patient who simultaneously has both clinical expressions of IgE-mediated FA that of FPIES. Our case highlights the need to review criteria for FPIES diagnosis.

Cross-elicitation responses to 2-methoxymethyl-p-phenylenediamine in p-phenylenediamine highly allergic volunteers using allergy alert test: the Italian experience.
Conclusions. Me-PPD may offer a safer alternative for PPD-allergic patients with an absent or reduced elicitation response in the allergy alert test simulating hair dye use conditions. Even patients with strong patch test reactions, with appropriate selection by allergy alert test and counselling, may be able to tolerate hair dyeing with Me-PPD containing products.

Occupational allergy to dog among police dog trainers.
This study was aimed to reveal the prevalence of dog allergy and other common allergy and allergic symptoms in police dog trainers. Fifty-six police dog trainers and 150 workers as control group were included in this study. Medical records of dog trainers including respiratory, skin, eye symptoms and physical examinations and skin prick test results are compared with the medical records of control group. Positive SPT to dog was present in 21.4% of dog trainers, whereas the frequency of sensitization to dog in the control group was 1.3% (p minor 0.001).
