Oral Immunotherapy for Multiple Foods in a Pediatric Allergy Clinic Setting.

The epidemiology of milk allergy in US children.
CONCLUSION: Childhood milk allergy, which accounts for one-fifth of US food allergies, is less prevalent among Asian and black children than white children. Association between chronic urticaria and self-reported penicillin allergy.
CONCLUSION: This link between chronic urticaria and self-reported penicillin allergy highlights the need for clinicians to inquire about self-reported penicillin allergy in patients with chronic urticaria and to consider penicillin skin testing. Furthermore, patients who report penicillin allergy might actually have chronic urticaria, indicating the importance of inquiring about chronic urticaria symptoms in patients with self-reported penicillin allergy. Allergy test outcomes in patients self-reported as having penicillin allergy: Two-year experience.

Prevalence of fish and shellfish allergy: A systematic review.
CONCLUSION: Few studies have established the prevalence of fish or shellfish allergy using the gold standard double-blind, placebo-controlled challenge criteria, with most instead relying on self-reported questionnaire-based methods. The limited data available suggest that fish allergy prevalence is similar worldwide; however, shellfish allergy prevalence may be higher in the Southeast Asia region. Urban versus Rural Residency and Allergy Prevalence among Adult Women: Iowa Women's Health Study.

Pre-Operative Penicillin Allergy Testing in Cardiac Surgery Patients.
CONCLUSION: Integrating penicillin allergy evaluation into routine pre-operative care ensured that almost all cardiac surgery patients evaluated received first-line antibiotic prophylaxis, a critical component of SSI risk reduction. Children with reported penicillin allergy: Public health impact and safety of delabeling.
CONCLUSION: Penicillin allergy is overdiagnosed, often incorrectly, and the label is frequently first applied during childhood. Targeting children for the removal of the incorrect penicillin allergy label provides a mechanism to reduce the use of broader-spectrum and less effective antibiotics. The prevalence and characteristics of food allergy in urban minority children.
CONCLUSION: This is the largest study of food allergy prevalence in an urban minority pediatric population, and 3.4% had physician-documented food allergy. Significantly more blacks were affected than children of other races. Fewer than half of food-allergic children in this population had confirmatory testing or evaluation by an allergy specialist.
