Prevalence of food allergies and the quality of life in Korea: finding from the Korea National Health and Nutriotion Examination Survey
Conclusion: Food allergies in Korea are approximately 9.1% in prevalence and food allergies are associated with increased activity limitations, lower quality of life, depression, and suicidal ideation. Therefore, it may be necessary to perform early intervention through periodic evaluation of the mental health of food allergy patients.

Airway hyperresponsiveness in adult patients with and without allergies
Conclusion: Unlike men, AHR cases increase significantly in women without allergies after the age of 50, possibly due to hormonal changes. The highest number of AHR is found in young men with allergies, which decreases with age.

Allergies, asthma and the risk of pancreatic cancer: A population-based case-control study in Ireland
Conclusions: These results confirm previously reported associations between hay fever and PC and also suggest a protective effect of asthma. The biological basis for these findings requires elucidation.

Influence of childhood asthma and allergies on occupational exposure in early adulthood: a prospective cohort study
Conclusion: In this Australian cohort, young adults with history of allergies were more likely to enter exposed jobs, suggesting no asthmagen avoidance. Improved counseling against high risk jobs may be needed for young adults with these conditions.

Associations between fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO), asthma, respiratory symptoms and self-reported allergies in female university students in Kobe, Japan
In conclusion, asthma diagnosis, current respiratory symptoms, especially wheeze, and self-reported allergies can be determinants of increased FeNO in Japanese female students.

The influence of traffic-related air pollution (TRAP) on asthma and allergies modified by polymorphisms in GSTT1, GSTM1, GSTP1 and GSTCD
Conclusion: TRAP may increase risk of childhood asthma, wheeze and eczema among those carrying GSTT1null, ile/ile alleles in GSTP1 and G allele in GSTCD genes.

Childhood allergies and obesity relationship: Identification of novel non-invasive biomarkers
Asthma and obesity are among the most common chronic childhood disorders, both having had a parallel dramatic increase in prevalence worldwide in recent decades. The parallel epidemics of asthma and obesity over the past few decades have spurred research into obesity as a risk factor for asthma. However, little is known regarding the impact of asthma on obesity incidence. In a large-scale prospective study, we assess effects of allergies on BMI at age 7 (n=5,158) in Japan. Parents completed the International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood questionnaires about symptoms of allergic diseases (wheeze, rhinoconjunct...

Emerging allergies to cannabis
We report 6 clinical cases of immediate hypersensitivity related to CS.Subjects were young adults (27-41 years; 2M/4F) current or former C smokers. Symptoms were:plant food allergies due to cross-reactive lipid transfer proteins (LTP) (n= 5) (Metz-Favre C et al. Eur Ann Allergy Clin Immunol. 2011 Dec;43(6):193-5), rhinitis/asthma (n= 3), contact urticaria/eczema (n=3) and effort anaphylaxis (n=1). All had positive CS sIgE (median 8.05 (4.35-21.9) kU/L) (Ebo D et al. Int Arch Allergy Immunol. 2013;161:220-8). In 1 case, SPT with crude CS was made and strongly positive. All subjects were atopic.Up to now, C consumption has b...

Allergies and exercise-induced bronchoconstriction in young soccer players: A screening strategy
Conclusions: The implementation of a screening strategy for EIB based on current exercise-induced symptoms with or without a physician diagnosed-asthma, a spirometry and the realisation of a SPT by all the soccer players is an easy measure to take to identify those at risk of EIB.

Links between exercise-induced asthma and allergies in children: Should we pay a little more attention to children who are breathless to the effort?
Conclusions: EIA has been correlated to allergies in a statistically significant way (p=0,01).EST increased diagnosis of exercise-induced asthma and facilitated compliance to the treatment.A REP has been easily integrated in our small outpatient clinic and decreased children's breathlessness. The increase of children's physical activities has been a positive feed-back for doctors, nurses and patients.

The prevalence of asthma and related atopic diseases in Sri Lankan children from 2001 to 2013 utilizing the International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood (ISAAC) questionnaire
Conclusion: The prevalence of current wheeze and associated atopic diseases show a decreasing trend from 2001 to 2013. Access to treatment may be a reason for the decline. It is important to further monitor this trend to assess whether it will continue or change direction.

Respiratory (RA) & Non-IgE(NIgE) allergies both increase Respiratory Effort(RE) during sleep, implicating a common pathophysiology mechanism in Obstructive Sleep Apnoea(OSA)asthma associated. Asthma treatment (AT) decrease Apnoea Hypopnea Index(AHI).
Conclusions: RA+NIgE both correlate to the increase RE>22 and AHI>6,8 implicating that they both contribute to the ped OSA-ast through a common pathophysiological mechanism. Evaluation of RA/ NIGE in separate groups decreases statistical significance, as if comparing similar groups, indicating that they may co-operate in ped OSA-ast. AHI & RE are both correlated to BMI. Increased RE could indicate obesity. AT correlates to decrease AHI<6,8 significantly. As AT & AT+ED seems to decrease AHI, identification of children allergic to RA+NIgE could be a way to help differentiate the group of children with O...
