The test-retest reliability of non-navigated transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) measures of corticospinal pathway excitability early after stroke
CONCLUSIONS: The present findings indicate there is limited evidence for acceptable test-retest reliability of non-navigated TMS outcomes when using the appropriate 95% CI for ICC, SDC and LOA values.CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION: Current Controlled Trials: ISCRT 19090862, http://www.controlled-trials.com.PMID:38634228 | DOI:10.1080/09638288.2024.2337107 (Source: Disability and Rehabilitation)

Similarities and differences in factors associated with high and low sedentary behavior after stroke: a mixed methods study
CONCLUSIONS: Factors affecting activity engagement differed between people who are more and less sedentary. Interventions that aim to reduce post-stroke sedentary behavior should consider the: (1) types of activities, (2) role of other people, and (2) application of strategies to overcome activity and environment-related barriers.PMID:38632899 | DOI:10.1080/09638288.2024.2341867 (Source: Disability and Rehabilitation)

Exploring access to community neurorehabilitation for people with progressive neurological conditions: a qualitative study
CONCLUSIONS: This study adds depth to our understanding of the complexity, and the roles and needs of people with PNCs and HCPs, in accessing community neurorehabilitation. Further research is needed to determine how best to empower people to access rehabilitation.PMID:38632940 | DOI:10.1080/09638288.2024.2338198 (Source: Disability and Rehabilitation)

Motor proficiency of persons with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or autism spectrum disorder diagnosed in adulthood
CONCLUSIONS: Motor proficiency is impaired in most persons with ADHD or ASD diagnosed in adulthood, suggesting that motor assessment should be included in clinical examinations of adults with suspected neurodevelopment disorders.PMID:38632964 | DOI:10.1080/09638288.2024.2340123 (Source: Disability and Rehabilitation)

Barriers and facilitators to parent-delivered interventions for children with or infants at risk of cerebral palsy. An integrative review informed by behaviour change theory
CONCLUSIONS: Fostering parent-delivered interventions requires addressing knowledge gaps, skill and capacity of parents and therapists. Therapists forming strong alliances with parents and setting collaborative realistic goals are key to successful parent-delivered interventions.PMID:38627931 | DOI:10.1080/09638288.2024.2338193 (Source: Disability and Rehabilitation)

A self-management program increases the dosage of inpatient rehabilitation by 26  minutes per day: a process evaluation
CONCLUSION: A self-management rehabilitation program was implemented with fidelity for two in three rehabilitation patients, resulting in increased therapy dosage with minimal adaptations.PMID:38627962 | DOI:10.1080/09638288.2024.2339533 (Source: Disability and Rehabilitation)

Rehabilitation experiences following major lower limb amputation due to complications of vascular disease: a UK qualitative study
CONCLUSIONS: Findings highlight the importance of fellow patients in supporting rehabilitation following lower limb amputation. Enabling contact with other patients should thus be a key consideration when planning rehabilitation. There is a clear unmet need for realistic information relating to post-amputation recovery, tailored to the needs of individual patients.PMID:38622944 | DOI:10.1080/09638288.2024.2329747 (Source: Disability and Rehabilitation)

The capability approach in rehabilitation: developing capability care
CONCLUSIONS: We have shown that it is possible to develop a healthcare intervention based on the capability approach. We hope that rehabilitation professionals will be encouraged to use capability care and that other medical professionals will be inspired to develop capability care in their respective fields.REGISTRATION: Registered at trialregister.nl NL8946.PMID:38625146 | DOI:10.1080/09638288.2024.2342494 (Source: Disability and Rehabilitation)

Patients' perceptions of participating in self-directed activities outside supervised occupational and physiotherapy within inpatient and home-based rehabilitation settings: a qualitative study
CONCLUSIONS: Patients and their carers reported positive experiences of participating in self-directed therapy programs within rehabilitation settings, with programs perceived as beneficial in optimising recovery. Patients reported a range of driving and limiting factors in relation to completing self-directed activities. Understanding these factors, relating to the patient, their environment and other people, is critical for clinicians so that they can modify their delivery accordingly, ensuring uptake and sustained implementation of self-directed activities in rehabilitation care.PMID:38625404 | DOI:10.1080/09638288.2024...
