Water and dialysis fluid purity for contemporary hemodialysis
CONCLUSION: In conclusion, the contemporary landscape of hemodialysis conditions has engendered an urgent necessity for advanced water treatment systems and optimized delivery of dialysis fluids. This review serves as a comprehensive update on the latest technological advancements aimed at meeting these critical demands. Dialysis water and fluids must adhere to increasingly stringent purity constraints, encompassing both biochemical and microbiological perspectives.PMID:37697455 | DOI:10.1111/sdi.13174

Systems Innovations to Increase Home Dialysis Utilization
Clin J Am Soc Nephrol. 2023 Aug 31. doi: 10.2215/CJN.0000000000000298. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTGlobally, there is an interest to increase home dialysis utilization. The most recent USRDS data reports that 13.3% of incident dialysis patients in the US are started on home dialysis, while the majority of patients continue to initiate kidney replacement therapy with in-center hemodialysis. In order to affect meaningful change, a multi-faceted innovative approach will be needed to substantially increase the use of home dialysis. Patient and provider education is the first step to enhance home dialysis knowledge awareness....

Frequent vascular access thrombosis in a patient with end stage kidney disease on hemodialysis
This article reviews the association between hypercoagulability and VAT and the high prevalence of hypercoagulable states in end-stage kidney disease (ESKD). This article reviews the role of antithrombotic and anticoagulant medications in preventing VAT. The article concludes by reviewing the unique challenges of using vitamin K antagonists in patients with ESKD.PMID:37641427 | DOI:10.1111/sdi.13172
