Preparation and analysis of polysaccharide from Solanum tuberdsm
Ultrason Sonochem. 2023 Jul 8;98:106520. doi: 10.1016/j.ultsonch.2023.106520. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe crude Solanum tuberdsm polysaccharides (STP) were extracted with hot water. In the process of extraction, proteins, pigments, small molecules and salts in the mixture were removed by Sevage reagent, diatomite and distilled water dialysis, respectively. In addition, the process conditions of protein removal by response surface methodology (RSM) were optimized, and the optimum process conditions of Sevage method were established as follows: ultrasound power 350 W, ultrasound time 20 min, deproteinization twice, vol...

Treatment of arteriovenous access pseudoaneurysms using ultrasound guided balloon assisted thrombin injection: Two cases and systematic review of the literature
CONCLUSIONS: Thrombin injection with concomitant balloon inflation seems to be a safe and effective treatment for arteriovenous fistula pseudoaneurysms. Future studies should be aimed at evaluating the long-term outcomes of such minimally invasive techniques.PMID:37337453 | DOI:10.1177/11297298231182158

Ultra-small micelles together with UTMD enhanced the therapeutic effect of docetaxel on Glioblastoma
In conclusion, the combination of ultra-small micelles (NMs) with UTMD may be a promising strategy to overcome the limitations of the first-line chemotherapeutics against GBM.PMID:37220818 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejps.2023.106468

The impact of vascular access location on pulmonary arterial pressure in chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis
CONCLUSION: Patients with proximal AVF have a significantly higher PASP than those with distal AVF, and this could be attributed to the higher blood flow in proximal AVF compared to distal AVF.PMID:37005349 | DOI:10.1111/sdi.13154

Utility of ultrasonographic examination in catheter-related infections  in peritoneal dialysis: a clinical approach
J Nephrol. 2023 Mar 20. doi: 10.1007/s40620-023-01589-w. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPeritoneal dialysis- (PD) related infections continue to be a major cause of morbidity and mortality in patients on renal replacement therapy via PD. However, despite the great efforts in the prevention of PD-related infectious episodes, approximately one third of technical failures are still caused by peritonitis. Recent studies support the theory that ascribes to exit-site and tunnel infections a direct role in causing peritonitis. Hence, prompt exit site infection/tunnel infection diagnosis would allow the timely start of the most app...

Renal replacement therapy via popliteal vein for exhausted vascular access in emergency: A case report
Semin Dial. 2023 Mar 5. doi: 10.1111/sdi.13152. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA 59 year-old man was admitted as his left antecubital arterio-venous fistula was thrombosed, and hemodialysis could not be succeeded for the last two sessions. It was a brachio-basilic fistula without transposition, which also required thrombectomy 8 months ago, and had been created 18 months before. He had multiple catheter insertions during the period of 6 years. Following the failed catheter insertions from both jugular and femoral veins, an ultrasound-guided venography via the left popliteal vein demonstrated the intact left popliteal and fe...
