In silico screening of nanoporous materials for urea removal in hemodialysis applications
This article is licensed under aCreative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 3.0 Unported Licence.Thomas Fabiani, Eleonora Ricci, Cristiana Boi, Simone Dimartino, Maria Grazia De Angelis The design of miniaturized hemodialysis devices, such as wearable artificial kidneys, requires regeneration of the dialysate stream to remove uremic toxins from water. Adsorption has the potential to capture such... The content of this RSS Feed (c) The Royal Society of Chemistry

Effective removal of nitrate in water by continuous-flow electro-dialysis ion exchange membrane bioreactor (CF-EDIMB): Performance optimization and microbial analysis
Chemosphere. 2023 Aug 22:139880. doi: 10.1016/j.chemosphere.2023.139880. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe use of nitrogen fertilizer has been causing nitrate pollution in groundwater, and there is an urgent need for efficient approach to remove nitrate from groundwater. In our job, a novel continuous-flow electrodialysis ion exchange membrane bioreactor system (CF-EDIMB) was set up to remove nitrate (NO3-) from water for the first time. Nitrate removal was positively dependent on water chamber HRT and voltage; voltage had significant effect on the water chamber effluent pH; acetate utilization efficiency was closely corre...

The levels of bone turnover markers and parathyroid hormone and their relationship in chronic kidney disease
CONCLUSIONS: BTMs in advanced CKD stages were significantly higher than in the early disease stages. PTH level was independently and positively associated with the BTM levels in patients with CKD. In the advanced stage of CKD, β-CTX and N-MID OC levels were significantly higher in those with SHPT than those with non-SHPT.PMID:37619948 | DOI:10.1016/j.cca.2023.117518

Preparation and analysis of polysaccharide from Solanum tuberdsm
Ultrason Sonochem. 2023 Jul 8;98:106520. doi: 10.1016/j.ultsonch.2023.106520. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe crude Solanum tuberdsm polysaccharides (STP) were extracted with hot water. In the process of extraction, proteins, pigments, small molecules and salts in the mixture were removed by Sevage reagent, diatomite and distilled water dialysis, respectively. In addition, the process conditions of protein removal by response surface methodology (RSM) were optimized, and the optimum process conditions of Sevage method were established as follows: ultrasound power 350 W, ultrasound time 20 min, deproteinization twice, vol...
