Abnormal distribution of fat tissue and its association with intestinal failure associated liver disease (IFALD) in children and adolescents with long-time parenteral nutrition support: A case control study
CONCLUSION: Patients with IF exhibit low skeletal muscle mass and high visceral fat, which may be related to liver fibrosis. Routine monitoring of body composition is recommended. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.PMID:37416985 | DOI:10.1002/jpen.2548

Adult Patients with Short Bowel Syndrome Treated with Teduglutide: A Descriptive Cohort Study
CONCLUSIONS: Teduglutide reduces PS volume and promotes weaning in adults with SBS-IF. Lack of narcotics and longer duration of PS were associated with PS volume reduction and weaning whereas lower PS volume at baseline and fewer days of infusion were favorable in obtaining enteral autonomy. In Total Parenteral Nutrition Fed Piglets, Fatty Acids Vary by Lipid Emulsion and Tissue Sampled
CONCLUSION: This study in piglets has shown that at unrestricted doses, MLE treatment is associated with low serum and also tissue AA compared to SLE and to healthy litter matched controls. While not yet proven, low tissue AA levels may have functional consequences and this data supports current practice avoiding MLE dose restriction. This article is protected by copyright. Pediatric intestine and multivisceral transplant
Curr Opin Organ Transplant. 2023 Aug 1;28(4):316-325. doi: 10.1097/MOT.0000000000001082. Epub 2023 Jun 12.ABSTRACTPURPOSE OF REVIEW: Intestinal and multivisceral transplantation (ITx, MVTx) is the cornerstone in treatment of irreversible intestinal failure (IF) and complications related to parenteral nutrition. This review aims to highlight the unique aspects of the subject in pediatrics.RECENT FINDINGS: Etiology of intestinal failure (IF) in children shares some similarity with adults but several unique considerations when being evaluated for transplantation will be discussed. Owing to significant advancement in IF manage...
