X-ray and MR Contrast Bearing Nanoparticles Enhance the Therapeutic Response of Image-Guided Radiation Therapy for Oral Cancer
CONCLUSIONS: Theranostic nanoparticles enable preprocedure radiotherapy planning, as well as enhance radiation treatment efficacy for head and neck tumors.PMID:37469184 | PMC:PMC10363893 | DOI:10.1177/15330338231189593

Protective effects of activated vitamin D receptor on radiation-induced intestinal injury
In this study, we investigated the effect of the expression and regulation of VDR on the protection of RIII, and the radiosensitivity in vitro experiments, and explored the initial mechanism of VDR in regulating radiosensitivity of IEC. As a result, we found that the expression of VDR in intestinal tissues and cells in mice can be induced by ionizing radiation. VDR agonists are able to prolong the average survival time of mice after radiation and reduce the radiation-induced intestinal injury. For lack of vitamin D, the radiosensitivity of intestinal epithelial cells in mice increased, which can be reduced by VDR activatio...

A randomized clinical trial of granulocyte macrophage colony stimulating factor mouthwash for oral mucositis in head and neck cancer
CONCLUSION: Given that GM-CSF was no more effective than Salt and Soda mouthwash for the prevention or treatment of OM, the readily available and cheaper mouthwash can be used at considerable cost savings.PMID:35026498 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejon.2022.102093

Targeting Accuracy Considerations for Simultaneous Tumor Treating Fields Antimitotic Therapy During Robotic Hypofractionated Radiation Therapy
Conclusion: A robotic radiosurgery system was used to verify that radiation targeting was not adversely affected when the TTFields arrays were in place and the TTFields delivery device was powered on. In addition, this study verified that radiation delivered simultaneously with TTFields did not interfere with the generation of the electric fields.PMID:34632866 | DOI:10.1177/15330338211039135

Role of salt ‑inducible kinase 2 in the malignant behavior and glycolysis of colorectal cancer cells
In conclusion, the findings of the present study suggested that SIK2 may be involved in CRC carcinogenesis and glycolysis by regulating TRIM28 expression. These findings could provide a novel approach to targeted therapy and clinical diagnosis of CRC in the future.PMID:34558647 | DOI:10.3892/mmr.2021.12460
