Effect of Metal Cations on Colloids-Microcystin-LR Interaction
Bull Environ Contam Toxicol. 2023 Aug 25;111(3):28. doi: 10.1007/s00128-023-03777-7.ABSTRACTColloidal particles, mixture with continuous molecular weight distribution and multiple organic components, is widespread in lake and have significant impact on the retention, migration, transportation, and fate of contaminants in lake ecosystems. Here we extract sedimentary colloids from algal growth dominant area (AD) in Taihu Lake and further separated into four different particle size ranges by cross-flow ultra-filtration (CFUF). The interaction mechanism between colloids and Microcystin-LR (MC-LR) was investigated under differe...

Bee venom: an unusual cause of acute kidney injury
CONCLUSION: A massive bee attack should be considered a medical emergency because of the organic damage it can inflict. The renal prognosis depends on the number of stings, and especially on the delay and the quality of the treatment. Early initiation of dialysis treatment reduces mortality.PMID:37098712 | DOI:10.1684/ndt.2023.19

Polymeric nanoparticles containing babassu oil: a proposed drug delivery system for controlled release of hydrophilic compounds
In this study, we developed and characterized particles containing babassu oil, solely or combined with sorbitan monostearate (Span® 60) or medium chain triglycerides (MCT) in the core to test different HLB and evaluated the encapsulation of a model hydrophilic molecule. Different techniques were used to characterize all formulations in terms of size and distribution, and in vitro drug release by dialysis technique was performed. The BBS was also characterized and presented 46,05 ± 1,11% and 15,38 ± 0,06 of lauric and myristic acid, respectively; saponification index of 248.87 ± 0.64mg of KOH per gram of BBS, and no ox...
