The effects of exposure to NO < sub > 2 < /sub > , PM < sub > 2.5 < /sub > and PM < sub > 10 < /sub > on health service attendances with respiratory illnesses: A time-series analysis
Environ Pollut. 2023 Jun 28;333:122123. doi: 10.1016/j.envpol.2023.122123. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe associations of exposure to air-pollutants and respiratory illness remains inconsistent and studies have not adequately addressed the non-linearity and delayed effects of exposure. This is a retrospective cohort study using linked routine health and pollution data collected between January 2018 and December 2021. Participants were patients who visited General Practice (GP) or accident and emergency (A&E) services for respiratory illness. Time-series analysis, distributed lagged models, was used to address the po...

Changes in general practice use and costs with COVID-19 and telehealth initiatives: analysis of Australian whole-population linked data
CONCLUSION: The introduction of widespread telehealth maintained the use of GP services during the COVID-19 pandemic and minimised out-of-pocket costs, but not for all population subgroups.PMID:37105730 | DOI:10.3399/BJGP.2022.0351

A pilot intervention to improve uptake and equality of childhood influenza vaccination in an area of Wales, through the introduction of a mixed delivery model including nursery school immunisation sessions
Vaccine. 2023 Apr 8:S0264-410X(23)00382-1. doi: 10.1016/j.vaccine.2023.03.075. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe schools-based influenza vaccination programme has seen consistently high uptake in Wales, however coverage in pre-school two and three-year olds is lower. One health board area (Cwm Taf University Health Board (UHB)) developed an intervention to offer live attenuated influenza vaccine (LAIV) for three-year olds attending nursery schools alongside the existing general practice (GP) programme. During the pilot, sessions were delivered by health visitors, working with school nurses. The mixed delivery model led to ...

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on pharmacy personnel in primary care
CONCLUSION: The pandemic has impacted pharmacists and technicians, but it is unknown if changes will be permanent, and there is a need to understand which changes should continue. Future research should explore the impact of altered service delivery, including remote working, on patient care.PMID:36093791 | DOI:10.1017/S1463423622000445

Lessons from experiences of accessing healthcare during the pandemic for remobilizing rheumatology services: a national mixed methods study
CONCLUSIONS: We identified patient factors that predict access to and satisfaction with care and aspects of care that patients value. This is important to inform remobilisation of rheumatology services to better meet the needs of patients.PMID:35350717 | PMC:PMC8946474 | DOI:10.1093/rap/rkac013
