Long-Term Safety, Efficacy, Indications, and Criteria of Arteriovenous Fistula Ligation Following Kidney Transplant: A Patient-Driven Approach
CONCLUSIONS: In our study, the long-term risks of surgical complications and allograft impairment after ligation were negligible. As a result of our current findings and known positive cardiovascular benefit, patient-driven arteriovenous fistula ligation after kidney transplant should be routinely considered in patients with stable allograft function.PMID:37455468 | DOI:10.6002/ect.2023.0024

Factors associated with poor sleep quality in patients with pre-dialysis chronic kidney disease: A systematic review
CONCLUSION: Poor sleep quality was prevalent and influenced kidney function, increased mortality as well as decreased quality of life in patients with pre-dialysis chronic kidney disease. This review synthesizes factors associated with poor sleep quality. Managing these factors can mitigate and prevent poor sleep quality.IMPACT: Healthcare providers, especially nurses, can assess the risk factors of poor sleep quality and reinforce patients' self-management. Future research should elucidate the assessment and management of risk factors and transfer these into widespread use in the routine care of patients with chronic kidn...

Acute chest pain and dyspnoea as clinical presentation of primary membranous nephropathy. A case report and literature review
Acta Biomed. 2022 Oct 26;93(5):e2022216. doi: 10.23750/abm.v93i5.12782.ABSTRACTMembranous nephropathy (MN) is the commonest cause of nephrotic syndrome (NS) in adult male patients worldwide. Most of the cases (80%) are idiopathic (primary MN, PMN), whereas about 20% are associated with autoimmune diseases, malignancies or exposures (secondary MN). PMN is a kidney-specific autoimmune glomerular disease mediated by antibodies to the M-type phospholipase A2 receptor (anti-PLA2R) (85%), thrombospondin type 1 domain containing 7A (THSD7A) (3-5%), or by other still unidentified mechanisms (10%). Most of the patients with PMN pre...
