Effect of progressive bridging exercise on weight-bearing during the extension phase of sit-to-stand, and on sit-to-stand ability in individuals with stroke: A randomised controlled trial
CONCLUSION : Progressive bridging exercise improved symmetrical weight bearing during the extension phase of sit-to-stand, consequently enhanced sit-to-stand ability in individuals with stroke.PMID:35815985 | DOI:10.1177/02692155221107107

Minimal clinically important difference of the Berg Balance Scale and comfortable walking speed in patients with acute stroke: A multicenter, prospective, longitudinal study
CONCLUSIONS: A change of 6.5-12.5 points in the Berg Balance Scale and 0.18-0.25 m/s in the comfortable walking speed is required in these measurements' anchor-based minimal clinically important differences to be beyond measurement error, and to be perceptible by both patients and clinicians.PMID:35730136 | DOI:10.1177/02692155221108552

A systematic review opens the black box of "usual care" in stroke rehabilitation control groups and finds a black hole
CONCLUSIONS: This study shows that usual care in CG does not actually exist, as both specific terminology and consistency within CGP contents are missing. Reporting guidelines should give better assistance on this issue. These results should be verified in other fields.PMID:35634889 | DOI:10.23736/S1973-9087.22.07413-5

Community living after in-hospital specialized rehabilitation in patients with severe disability after stroke: a long-term follow-up after a randomized controlled trial
CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrates maintenance or progress in important aspects of functioning and health in most participants at long-term follow-up, but not in all.Implications for rehabilitationPatients with severe disability after stroke may maintain or improve their physical functioning and health after a long period of community living, when they receive continuous individualized rehabilitation including physiotherapy.Patients who maintain or improve walking ability and walking speed after living for a long time in the community, may still need assistance with daily activities, especially if they require substantia...

A systematic review on extracorporeal shock wave therapy and botulinum toxin for spasticity treatment: a comparison on efficacy
CONCLUSIONS: A beneficial effect on spasticity was found for both treatments: evidence showed that ESWT and BoNT-A can ameliorate spasticity considering parameters such as MAS, MTS, AROM, PROM, UE-FMA, VAS and SFS in post-stroke, multiple sclerosis, and cerebral palsy patients. Further research is required to strengthen the evidence, and more suitable study protocols are highly needed.PMID:35412036 | DOI:10.23736/S1973-9087.22.07136-2
