Antipsychotic Use and Risk of Stroke Among Community-Dwelling People With Alzheimer ’s Disease
Antipsychotic use for neuropsychiatric symptoms in Alzheimer ’s disease (AD) is common despite the increased risk of cardiovascular events and mortality. There is limited and inconsistent evidence on the possible risk of stroke. We assessed whether antipsychotic initiation increases the risk of stroke in people with a verified diagnosis of AD and whether th ere is a difference in stroke risk between the 2 most commonly used antipsychotics, risperidone and quetiapine.

Budgetary impact analysis of alteplase - recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rtPA) - as a thrombolytic treatment for acute ischemic stroke in Colombia
CONCLUSIONS: Doubling the number of patients with AIS who are thrombolyzed would lead to reductions in the number of patients with sequelae and would require a budgetary effort of 5.5-7.0%. The early initiation of treatment (0-180minutes) gives an additional benefit in reducing the number of sequelae and a lower budgetary impact than initiation within the last time window (181-270minutes).PMID:35702977 | DOI:10.1080/14737167.2022.2089655

Formulary restrictions and stroke risk in  patients with atrial fibrillation
CONCLUSIONS: Limiting access to NOACs may exacerbate current underuse of anticoagulants and increase the risk of stroke among patients with newly diagnosed AF. Pharmacy benefit managers and Part D plans need to continuously review the appropriateness of formulary policies to ensure patient access to effective medications.PMID:36252171 | DOI:10.37765/ajmc.2022.89195
