Does energy-consuming right trading have double dividend effect on firm's economic performance and carbon emission?
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2023 Sep 16. doi: 10.1007/s11356-023-29864-0. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTWhether the market-based environmental regulation policy can achieve a win-win situation of economic growth and carbon emission reduction has always been an academic controversial topic. Taking the pilot policy of energy-consuming right trading (ECRT) of China in 2016 as a quasi-natural experiment, this paper uses the difference-in-differences (DID) method to investigate the policy impact of ECRT on the economic performance and carbon emissions of firms. An economy-environment composite index has been conducted for testi...

China's carbon emissions peaking pathway in the post-COVID-19 era
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2023 Aug 29. doi: 10.1007/s11356-023-29400-0. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSeveral countries have weakened the carbon emission objectives to immediately revive the economy in the post-COVID-19 era. Therefore, it is a challenge worth addressing to readjust the economic development and carbon emissions after the COVID-19 pandemic. From the perspective of China's carbon emissions, this study shapes a multi-objective dynamic optimization model based on the material capital input and R&D support aspects. The proposed model imitates China's economic development, energy consumption, and carbon dio...

COVID-19 Pandemic and Health and Social Inequalities Worldwide: Impact and Response Measures in Greece
CONCLUSIONS: The pandemic has exacerbated long-standing health and socioeconomic inequalities, stressing to governments the need to adopt political strategies that will help address them. Measures have been taken in Greece for labor protection, and unemployment benefits, such as the two-month extension of the subsidy period for the unemployed and the long-term unemployed. Minimum insurance days have also been reduced so that citizens employed in tourism, catering, and other seasonal occupations can receive unemployment benefits.PMID:37581813 | DOI:10.1007/978-3-031-31986-0_38
