The role of leptin in ischemic stroke and its subtypes: A Mendelian Randomization Study
Observational studies have suggested a relationship between leptin and risk of stroke. However, evidence for the association remains inconsistent, and whether the association reflects a causal relationship remains to be established. To clarify this relationship, we adopted a two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to investigate whether leptin plays a causal role in the risk of stroke and its subtypes.

Linking biomarkers with healthy lifestyle outcomes after stroke: Supplementary Results of a 12-month Randomized Controlled Trial
Participation in a healthy lifestyle intervention such as the Diabetes Prevention Program Group Lifestyle Balance –adapted for stroke (GLB-CVA) may reduce stroke burden. Identifying biomarkers associated with lifestyle changes may enhance an individualized approach to stroke recovery. We investigated metabolic biomarkers related to cardiovascular and neurological function in individuals with stroke in the GLB -CVA study and healthy (non-stroke) individuals.

Association between Liver Fibrosis and Stroke Recurrence in Young Patients with Ischemic Stroke
Stroke incidence rates are rising among young adults. Liver fibrosis has recently been recognized as a risk factor for cardiovascular events and stroke in the general population. It remains unclear whether liver fibrosis influences the prognosis of stroke. We aimed to evaluate the association between liver fibrosis and stroke recurrence in young stroke patients.

Controlling Nutritional Status (CONUT) score and the risk of mortality or impaired physical function in stroke patients: a systematic review and meta-analysis
The Controlling nutritional status (CONUT) score is a tool for assessing the risk of malnutrition (undernutrition) that can be calculated from albumin concentration, total peripheral lymphocyte count, and total cholesterol concentration. CONUT score has been proposed as a promising prognostic marker in several clinical settings; however, a consensus on its prognostic value in stroke patients is lacking. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to evaluate the relationship between CONUT score and clinical outcomes in stroke patients based on all current available studies.

Dietary calcium intake and the risk of stroke: Meta-analysis of cohort studies
Prospective cohorts are inconsistent regarding the association between dietary calcium intake and the risk of stroke. The aim was to perform a meta-analysis to determine whether an association exists between them in cohort studies.

Association between the triglyceride-glucose index and stroke in middle-aged and older non-diabetic population: A prospective cohort study
This study aimed to investigate the association between IR measured by the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index and the risk of stroke among the middle-aged and elderly Chinese without diabetes.

Individual or Familial Diabetes in Relation to Eight Cardiovascular Diseases: A Two-Sample Mendelian Randomization Study
Diabetes is associated with increased risk of certain cardiovascular diseases, yet the causality remains to be determined. Meanwhile, given that first-degree relatives share 50% of genes, the effect of familial diabetes is also worthy of attention. Therefore, we sought to investigate the causal relations of individual or familial diabetes with eight cardiovascular diseases, including myocardial infarction, hypertension, atrial fibrillation, heart failure, cardiac death, pulmonary embolism, transient ischemic attack, and ischemic stroke.

Family history, waist circumference and risk of ischemic stroke: A prospective cohort study among Chinese adults
This study aimed to evaluate the association between WC and family history of stroke (FHS) with ischemic stroke (IS) risk among Chinese adults and to further explore the potential interaction of these associations.

Circulating citric acid cycle metabolites and risk of cardiovascular disease in the PREDIMED study
Plasma citric acid cycle (CAC) metabolites might be likely related to cardiovascular disease (CVD). However, studies assessing the longitudinal associations between circulating CAC-related metabolites and CVD risk are lacking. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association of baseline and 1-year levels of plasma CAC-related metabolites with CVD incidence (a composite of myocardial infarction, stroke or cardiovascular death), and their interaction with Mediterranean diet interventions.

Non-traditional lipid profiles and the risk of stroke: A systematic review and meta-analysis
An increasing number of studies on non-traditional lipid profiles have been investigated in recent years. However, the associations between non-traditional lipid profiles and the risk of stroke remained inconsistent. Therefore, this meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the associations between non-traditional lipid profiles and the risk of stroke and clarify the dose-response relations.

Effect of cigarette smoking on serum methylarginine and α-klotho levels
Smoking causes many diseases such as cardiovascular, lung diseases, stroke and premature aging. However, the role of smoking in the pathogenesis of these diseases is unclear. Increasing evidence suggests that methylarginine pathway metabolites and α-klotho may be strong markers for pathologies such as premature aging, endothelial dysfunction, and oxidant damage. Therefore, the study aimed to measure the serum levels of arginine, asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA), symmetric dimethylarginine (SDMA), N-monomethyl-L-arginine (L-NMMA), and α-kl otho levels in smokers.

Triglyceride-glucose index and short-term functional outcome and in-hospital mortality in patients with ischemic stroke
The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index has been demonstrated as an independent marker of ischemic stroke. Whether TyG index predicts short-term outcomes in patients with ischemic stroke remains uncertain. The aim of the study was to investigate the early prognosis value of TyG index in ischemic stroke patients.
