¿Be positive as well as realistic¿: a qualitative description analysis of information gaps experienced by breastfeeding mothers
Conclusions: The results suggest that several of the information gaps highlighted by respondents in this study closely align with commonly cited reasons for breastfeeding cessation including perceived insufficient milk supply, latching difficulties and nipple discomfort. The findings emphasize the need for lactation support with systematic measures to ensure breastfeeding mothers are universally provided with information on these key content areas. Lactation supports should reinforce critical information and seek feedback to ascertain that mothers have clearly understood the information provided. Ensuring mothers receive a...

Authorship Order in Medical Education Publications: In Search of Practical Guidance for the Community.
This study describes principles commonly applied to authorship order decisions within the medical education community and educators' opinions about the significance of authorship order. Approach: A questionnaire was developed to ascertain current practices related to authorship decisions. Finding the best-fit background function for whole-powder-pattern fitting using LASSO combined with tree search
A new linear function for modelling the background in whole-powder-pattern fitting has been derived by applying LASSO (least absolute shrinkage and selection operator) and the technique of tree search. The background function (BGF) consists of terms bnL(2 θ /180) − n/2   and bnH(1   −   2 θ /180) − n/2 for the low- and high-angle sides, respectively. Some variable parameters of the BGF should be fixed at zero while others should be varied in order to find the best fit for a given data set without inducing overfitting. The LASSO algorithm can automatically select the variables in linear regression analysis. Ho...

The breastfeeding and early motherhood experiences of older first-time mothers: A constructivist grounded theory study
The objective of this paper is to present the results of a qualitative study that explored the factors surrounding decision-making related to breastfeeding and the experiences of early motherhood for 23 first-time mothers over the age of 35 in Canada. Previous studies on breastfeeding have not examined older first-time mothers as a group that is unique due to their experience of coming to motherhood in the context of the growing phenomenon of delayed childbearing in the 21st century. Many older women come to motherhood with both well- established life and professional experiences, and as such their needs may differ from th...

Maternal perception of paternal breastfeeding support: A secondary qualitative analysis
CONCLUSION AND IMPLICATION FOR PRACTICE: Paternal support of breastfeeding is a learning process that requires teamwork for women and their partners to master breastfeeding. Women and their partners as co-parents solve breastfeeding problems and achieve their breastfeeding goals, which promotes maternal well-being and bonding with their infants. Future interventions will guide partners to support breastfeeding and women's postpartum physical and psychological needs.PMID:34182402 | DOI:10.1016/j.midw.2021.103067
