E-190 Trends in admissions for intracranial dissections in the United States
ConclusionThe prevalence of uIADs among hospitalized patients is scarce, and only 2% of craniocervical dissection-related AIS is due to uIAD. Compared to IAs, patients were more likely younger and male, and uIAD more commonly led to acute ischemic stroke and motor deficits. The trend in age remained stable across the four years analyzed, while the proportion of females increased. There was no trend in the proportion of races among uIADs, however.Disclosures W. E-049 Accuracy of non-invasive and invasive imaging in identifying ica occlusion: a comparative study in 65 patients
Conclusion Our result suggests that there is a lack of correlation between the imaging findings of carotid occlusion on imaging compared with catheter angiography of the ICA during the intervention in acute stroke treatment. Thus, endovascular catheterization of the ICA is often required for the exact characterization and localization of the carotid occlusion and to determine if a dissection is the underlying pathology in such cases. Conclusions Our series demonstrates that dissecting intracranial aneurysm is predominantly present in the Petro-Cavernous junction of the ICA. Most of them could be treated successfully with good clinical outcome using stent-assisted coiling, stent-remodeling or primary coiling. However, the recurrence rate is extremely common; therefore close early follow-up is necessary for all cases especially those located in Petro-cavernous junction of the ICA. Endovascular treatment of acute carotid occlusion
Conclusions: Revascularization of the cervical carotid occlusion prior to treatment of the intracranial occlusion led to increased rates of recanalization in patients with tandem extracranial and intracranial occlusions. Whether a clinical benefit can be consistently derived likely relies on other factors, including the evaluation of cerebral perfusion.
