Comparison of Total Arch and Partial Arch Transposition During Hybrid Endovascular Repair for Aortic Arch Disease.
CONCLUSION: Morbidity and mortality were high within the first year of hybrid endovascular therapy for aortic arch disease, implying that candidates for hybrid procedures need to be selected carefully. Hybrid endovascular repair with TAT was found to have peri-operative mortality, stroke, and long-term survival rates comparable with PAT, so hybrid endovascular repair may be considered, irrespective of type of arch reconstruction, when clinically indicated. Long-Term Experience of Endovascular Repair for Thoracic Aortic Aneurysms and Dissections
Conclusion: Thoracic endovascular aortic repair is a relatively safe and effective therapy for different aortic pathologies with good long-term success. The risk of stroke and paraparesis is notable whether the LSA is covered, and strokes clearly accumulate in the emergency setting. A type I endoleak is the most common complication, but there are no predictive factors for its development.

Branched Endovascular Therapy of the Distal Aortic Arch: Preliminary Results of the Feasibility Multicenter Trial of the Gore Thoracic Branch Endoprosthesis
Conclusions Total endovascular repair of distal zone 2 arch aortic aneurysms can be achieved with a novel branched arch endograft. Future studies will evaluate the feasibility of this approach for aneurysms encompassing the brachiocephalic trunk and left carotid artery.

Early Experiences with the Endovascular Repair of Ruptured Descending Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm.
CONCLUSION: TEVAR for rDTAA was associated with favorable early mortality and morbidity outcomes. However, early reintervention should be considered if persistent endoleak occurs. PMID: 27064672 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Subarachnoid Hemorrhage with and without Concomitant Sickle Cell Disease, a Comparison Using the Nationwide Inpatient Sample (S4.004)
Conclusions: Based on these data, 2 out of every 1000 cases of SAH in the United States, will be related to SCD. SAH occurs at a much younger age in patients with SCD. Prognosis in patients with SAH related to SCD may be better than in non-SCD patients.Disclosure: Dr. Al Zahmi has nothing to disclose. Dr. Conners has nothing to disclose. Endovascular repair or open repair for ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm: a Cochrane systematic review
Conclusions Outcomes between eEVAR and open repair, specifically 30-day mortality, are similar. However, further high-quality trials are required, as the paucity of data currently limits the conclusions.

Pararenal Aortic Ulcer Repair.
CONCLUSION: Encouraging results of endovascular treatment of pararenal PAUs were observed. One major and fatal complication was encountered, which underlines the complexity and risks of the techniques. Another patient required re-intervention owing to an endoleak following off label use of covered stents for Ch-EVAR. FEVAR, which generally requires a custom made graft, was increasingly applied over the study period, potentially because of an increased awareness of this distinct pathology allowing for elective procedure planning. Ch-EVAR and hybrid procedures were predominantly used in symptomatic patients, whereas FEVAR wa...

Subsequent Results for Arch Aneurysm Repair with Inner Branched Endografts.
CONCLUSIONS: The early outcomes associated with this technology are favorable. Branched endografting of aortic arch aneurysms should be considered in patients unfit for open surgery. PMID: 26818022 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Open aortic arch replacement in high-risk patients: the gold standard AORTIC SURGERY
CONCLUSIONS Open TAR can be performed with low mortality and morbidity and excellent long-term results even in high-risk patients. Total endovascular repair may represent an option for patients not suitable for open surgery.

Intervention Associated Acute Kidney Injury and Long-Term Cardiovascular Outcomes
Background: Acute kidney injury (AKI) has been associated with all-cause short- and long-term mortality. However, its association with cardiovascular (CV) events remains unclear. We sought to investigate this in patients undergoing open (OAR) or endovascular (EVAR) abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, as they are likely to develop both AKI and CV morbidity. A meta-analysis was subsequently performed to confirm this in other CV-interventions. Methods: AKI-incidence was assessed in a multicentre-cohort of 1,068 patients undergoing EVAR (947 individuals) or OAR electively using the ‘Acute Kidney Injury Network' criteria. A com...

Endovascular Repair with Chimney Technique for Juxtarenal Aortic Aneurysm: A Single Center Experience.
CONCLUSION: Ch-EVAR can be used to treat JRAAs with suitable anatomical conditions. However, complications of type I endoleak were not uncommon, and, therefore, further studies are required to prove its efficiency for JRAAs. PMID: 25631457 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Outcomes of Open Repair for Chronic Descending Thoracic Aortic Dissection
Conclusions Open repairs of chronic descending thoracic aortic aneurysm dissections can be performed with respectable morbidity and mortality. Neurologic deficit remains low with the use of adjuncts, and early deaths are directly related to preoperative renal status. Reintervention on the involved aortic segment is low. These results allow comparisons with endovascular repair for chronic aortic dissection.
