Analysis of a series of cases with an initial diagnosis of acute disseminated encephalomyelitis over the period 2000-2010.
CONCLUSIONS. ADEM may present at any age, including in infants. There are a number of conditions that can mimic ADEM in the early stages. PMID: 24052440 [PubMed - in process]

Endovascular treatment of critical basilar stenosis with a Solitaire ® stent device: a first experience in our centre.
CONCLUSIONS. As far as we know, this is the first case of critical stenosis of the basilar artery being treated by placement of a Solitaire® stent to be reported in the literature. PMID: 25030071 [PubMed - in process]

Measurement of the outcomes in acquired brain injury in a neurorehabilitation unit. A long-term study.
CONCLUSION: The initial situation in terms of dependence and the degree of complexity of the needs of patients with brain damage correlate with the final situation after a programme of neurorehabilitation therapy. This reflects the importance of using scales like Goal Attainment Scaling and the Rehabilitation Complexity Scale, pre- and post-treatment. PMID: 28272726 [PubMed - in process]

Neurovascular ultrasound in emergency settings: diagnostic and therapeutic aspects.
CONCLUSION: Neurovascular ultrasound has greatly expanded to assume an important role in the study of cerebrovascular disorders. PMID: 28368084 [PubMed - in process]

Elevated incidence of cognitive impairment in patients with asymptomatic carotid stenosis.
CONCLUSION: A high percentage of CS patients showed a clinically altered performance in different cognitive domains, regardless of suffering vascular neurological symptoms (symptomatic vs asymptomatic CS). A close relationship was found between lifestyle and cognitive status of CS patients. PMID: 28895997 [PubMed - in process]

Clinical profile and satisfaction with anticoagulated treatment in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation attended in Internal Medicine and Neurology departments of Spain.
CONCLUSIONS: Although there were some differences in the clinical profile of patients with atrial fibrillation attended in Neurology or Internal Medicine departments, all of them had many comorbidities and a high thromboembolic risk. Despite INR control was poor, the most common oral anticoagulant used were vitamin K antagonists. Satisfaction related to oral anticoagulation was high. PMID: 28990646 [PubMed - in process]

Patients' perceptions of and attitudes towards epilepsy surgery: mistaken concepts in Colombia.
CONCLUSIONS: There is a negative attitude toward epilepsy surgery based on the patients' misperceptions of suffering neurological deficits during the surgery, reflecting lack of knowledge toward this type of treatment. These perceptions can contribute to delays in surgical care. PMID: 29923595 [PubMed - in process]

Neurological complications associated with dengue virus infection.
CONCLUSIONS: The spectrum of neurological complications from dengue virus is broad. There are no reliable data on its real incidence because most of the studies published to date are isolated series or cases. PMID: 31310001 [PubMed - in process]

Paradoxical arterial gas embolism following a direct incisive injury to the skull.
CONCLUSION: This case reflects the simultaneous presence of air in the arterial and venous circulation of the brain, as well as the peripheral communication through a patent foramen ovale. This production mechanism is poorly documented in the literature. PMID: 31310000 [PubMed - in process]

Neurological complications of coronavirus and COVID-19.
CONCLUSIONS: Future epidemiological studies and case records should elucidate the real incidence of these neurological complications, their pathogenic mechanisms and their therapeutic options. PMID: 32329044 [PubMed - in process]

Delayed administration of thrombolytic therapy in minor stroke
CONCLUSIONS: The presence of few symptoms in minor strokes can make them difficult to recognise and could be a reason for delaying treatment. Training among staff caring for these patients is essential to improve this aspect.PMID:33978229 | DOI:10.33588/rn.7210.2020510
