Effect of Moderate Versus Vigorous Exercise Intensity on Body Composition in Young Untrained Adults: The Activating Brown Adipose Tissue Through Exercise (ACTIBATE) Randomized Controlled Trial
This report is based on a secondary analysis from the activating brown adipose tissue through exercise (ACTIBATE) single-center unblinded randomized controlled trial. A total of 144 young adults (65.6% women) aged 18-25 years were randomly allocated to three different groups: (a) aerobic + resistance exercise training program based on the international physical activity recommendations at vigorous intensity (Ex-Vigorous group), (b) at moderate intensity (Ex-Moderate group), and (c) control group (no exercise). Body composition outcomes were determined by a dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry scanner. Both Ex-Vigorous and Ex-M...

Aortic Annulus Detection Based on Deep Learning for Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement Using Cardiac Computed Tomography
CONCLUSION: Our deep learning framework was feasible to detect the 3D complex structure of the aortic annulus plane using cardiac CT for TAVR. The performance of our algorithms was higher than other convolutional neural networks.PMID:37724499 | DOI:10.3346/jkms.2023.38.e306

Characterization of Multiple Resistance Genes of Escherichia coli Strains Isolated from Food and Clinical Samples
Cell Mol Biol (Noisy-le-grand). 2023 Jul 31;69(7):118-126. doi: 10.14715/cmb/2023.69.7.19.ABSTRACTMulti-drug resistance (MDR), which is formed by the development of antimicrobial resistance, which is one of the defense mechanisms in bacteria, has pushed human beings to constantly seek new antimicrobial agents in the fight against these microorganisms. Speed and precision are very important in identifying resistance in strains with MDR that reach humans in an open system through the consumption of contaminated food or water. The main aim of this study was the molecular characterization of ESBL gene variants (blaTEM, blaOXA,...

From the Flight Deck to the Bedside: Core Aviation Concepts Applied to Acute Care Physical Therapist Practice and Education
Phys Ther. 2023 Sep 15:pzad125. doi: 10.1093/ptj/pzad125. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe health care industry has sought to reduce errors and patient harm by drawing upon human factors research developed largely in the aviation industry. However, literature that explicitly applies human factors concepts to physical therapist practice is scarce. Therefore, this clinical perspective highlights key concepts in aviation safety and training that should be considered for application to physical therapist education and practice in the acute care setting, including the law of primacy, pilot in command, crew resource management,...
