A systematic review of experience of 180‐W XPS GreenLight laser vaporisation of the prostate in 1640 men
ConclusionThe 180‐W XPS GL offers shorter operation times than former devices. In the one randomised controlled trial comparison with TURP, volume reduction and functional results were comparable to those of TURP. Longer term studies are required.

Cellular phone collateral damage: A review of burns associated with lithium battery powered mobile devices
Conclusion Lithium powered cellular phones are susceptible to overheating and destruction from inadequate heat dissipation during thermal runaway. This process can be initiated by local short-circuiting from direct contact with a low resistance conductor such as keys or coins. We reinforce the importance of safe cell phone battery practices including avoiding overcharging and direct skin exposure to minimize thermal injury risk.

Novel structures and superconductivities of calcium–lithium alloys at high pressures: A first-principles study
Publication date: 5 June 2016 Source:Journal of Alloys and Compounds, Volume 669 Author(s): Ying Xu, Changbo Chen, Sihan Wang, Xiuping Sun Exposing a material to high pressures can fundamentally influence its crystal and electronic structure, leading to the formation of new materials with unique physical and chemical properties. Here, we have conducted a systematic search for Ca–Li alloys by using a global minima search based on particle-swarm optimization algorithm in combination with density functional theory calculations. We predict that Calcium and Lithium with a high Ca composition CaLi, Ca2Li and Ca3Li exist,...

A Novel Classification System for Injuries After Electronic Cigarette Explosions
Electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) contain lithium batteries that have been known to explode and/or cause fires that have resulted in burn injury. The purpose of this article is to present a case study, review injuries caused by e-cigarettes, and present a novel classification system from the newly emerging patterns of burns. A case study was presented and online media reports for e-cigarette burns were queried with search terms “e-cigarette burns” and “electronic cigarette burns.” The reports and injury patterns were tabulated. Analysis was then performed to create a novel classification system based on the dist...

Potentially Clinically Relevant Pharmacodynamic Interactions Between Antiepileptic Drugs And Psychotropic Drugs: An Update.
CONCLUSION: The pharmacodynamic DIs between AEDs and psychotropic drugs have not been systematically investigated or even described in the literature. Clinicians need to become more aware of the potential for dangerous combinations of the increasingly frequent co-prescription of AEDs and psychotropic agents. Likewise, researchers need to consider these DIs in their studies, and clinicians facing cases with adverse drug reactions secondary to these pharmacodynamic DIs need to publish them. Prosthetic protocols in implant-based oral rehabilitations: A systematic review on the clinical outcome of monolithic all-ceramic single- and multi-unit prostheses.
CONCLUSIONS: Preliminary clinical data indicate high short-term survival for implant-supported monolithic lithium disilicate and zirconia single- and multi-unit restorations. Randomised clinical studies and observations with a longer duration are necessary to validate the broad application of this therapy. Lithium Toxicity in Older Adults: a Systematic Review of Case Reports
ConclusionIn published case reports, the lithium dose was higher than recommended for older adults. Polypharmacy and comorbidities appeared to be important precipitating factors of lithium toxicity. Regular monitoring of serum lithium concentrations and appropriate caution should be exercised, even when serum lithium concentrations are within reported therapeutic levels.

Lithium ‐induced electrocardiographic changes: A complete review
Lithium has been used for the treatment of bipolar disorder for more than 6 decades. Reports of cardiac side effects resulting in both benign electrocardiographic (ECG) changes and near fatal arrhythmias have been reported in the literature. A systematic literature search was conducted on 2 electronic databases—PubMed and Medline—for the time period between January 1970 and March 2016 using the key word “lithium,” along with “electrocardiography” or “ECG.” All articles and their references were then screened by title for relevance by 2 authors and a librarian. A total of 406 articles were found on literatur...
