Kaempferia parviflora rhizome extract exerts anti-obesity effect in high-fat diet-induced obese C57BL/6N mice
Food Nutr Res. 2023 Aug 23;67. doi: 10.29219/fnr.v67.9413. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTKaempferia parviflora (KP) rhizome, also called black ginger, has been used as a herbal medicine for many centuries. This current study was aimed at exploring whether KP rhizome extract (KPE) had anti-obesity effects and the mechanism involved. Five-week-old C57BL/6N male mice were allocated into five groups for 8-week feeding with control diet (CD), high-fat diet (HFD), HFD + 150 mg/kg body weight (BW)/day KPE (HFD+K150), HFD + 300 mg/kg BW/day KPE (HFD+K300), and HFD + 600 mg/kg BW/day KPE (HFD+K600). KPE decreased BW, body fat mass, adip...

Intraduodenal nutrient infusion differentially alters intestinal nutrient sensing, appetite, and satiety responses in lean and obese subjects
CONCLUSION: Nutrient-induced gut hormone release and response to transient vagal blockade are significantly blunted in subjects with obesity. This trial was registered at clinicaltrials.org as NCT02537314.PMID:37661107 | DOI:10.1016/j.ajcnut.2023.06.011

Diet-induced Weight Loss and Phenotypic Flexibility Among Healthy Overweight Adults: A Randomized Trial
CONCLUSION: Application of dietary challenges increased sensitivity to detect metabolic response to weight loss intervention. Large interindividual variation was observed across a wide range of measurements allowing the identification of distinct responses to the weight loss intervention and mechanistic insight into the metabolic response to weight loss.PMID:37661105 | DOI:10.1016/j.ajcnut.2023.07.002
