E-114 Rescue suction mechanical thrombectomy of medium-small vessel occlusion in a pediatric patient presented with acute ischemic stroke
ConclusionEndovascular aspiration mechanical thrombectomy of MSVO is feasible in pediatric patients presenting with AIS and associated with good functional outcome. Additionally, when acute ongoing neurological deficit is present and CTA is inconclusive, a digital subtraction angiography is deemed needed to identify MSVO as the yields of CTA diminishes significantly beyond LVO. Further studies are required.Disclosures R. Hart: None. A. Singh: None. C. Manzanero: None. Y. Lodi: None.

E-248 Postpartum vertebral artery dissections: a report of 7 cases and literature review
ConclusionA limited cohort of 33 ppVADs exist in the literature. This study contributes 7 additional cases and suggests that, despite heterogenous management of ppVAD, the resulting outcomes were favorable.Disclosures V. Lazarov: None. A. Monteiro: None. F. Correlation between intracranial vertebral artery stenosis diameter measured by digital subtraction angiography and cross-sectional area measured by optical coherence tomography
Conclusion Measurement of the narrowest diameter was not a reliable predictor of the cross-sectional area of V4 stenosis. Larger studies are therefore needed to develop a new evaluation system based on V4 stenosis.

Risk of intracranial hemorrhage after carotid artery stenting versus endarterectomy: a population-based study.
CONCLUSIONS CAS is associated with a rare but higher risk of ICH relative to CEA. Future research is needed to devise strategies that minimize the risk of this serious complication after carotid artery revascularization. PMID: 29393758 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Pharmacological stroke prevention in the elderly with atrial fibrillation in Poland – Results of PolSenior study
Conclusions The study was unique to determine the frequency of pharmacological stroke prevention among elderly people with AF in Poland. It occurred that oral anticoagulant drugs were applied too rarely in this group of patients. Educational programs should be developed among general practitioners concerning current recommendations for patients with AF.

Dream a little dream: an update on genetics guided therapy for stroke in australia
Conclusions The current evidence does not support pharmacogenetic guided therapy in stroke in Australia. However, a one-size fits all approach does not work and there is a definite dearth of Australian based pharmacogenetic research, which must be addressed.

Recent time trends in incidence, outcome and premorbid treatment of atrial fibrillation-related stroke and other embolic vascular events: a population-based study
Conclusions We found no reduction in incidence of AF-related vascular events since publication of the BAFTA trial. A third of all disabling/fatal strokes occur in non-anticoagulated patients with known prior AF.

Prognostic significance of delayed intraventricular haemorrhage in the INTERACT studies
Conclusions Although linked to factors determining greater ICH growth including poor SBP control, dIVH is independently associated with poor outcome in acute small to moderate-size ICH. Trial registration numbers NCT00226096 and NCT00716079.

Acute hemifield room tilt illusion in cerebral ischaemia
We present 2 cases in the setting of acute vertebrobasilar territory ischaemia. Case 1: A 56-year old man was admitted with acute dyspnoea and new atrial fibrillation. On day two while lying in bed, he developed vomiting and suddenly perceived the curtain to his left was lying horizontal along the floor and felt he was sliding towards the left. MRI brain revealed acute multiterritory infarction (Figure 1). He was commenced on therapeutic anticoagulation and was well on follow-up. Case 2: A 47-year old man awoke with acute vertigo, vomiting and ataxia, exacerbated by head movement with dysarthria and diplopia. The worl...

P-013 Use of the Solitaire Device for Emergency Revascularization of the Superior Mesenteric Artery
ConclusionsThe techniques and equipment used for acute stroke intervention may be suitable for acute recanalization of peripheral vessels, under the right circumstances. As with many surgical interventions, a multidisciplinary approach may at times yield a novel and effective strategy for a difficult clinical problem.DisclosuresJ. Dalfino: None. A. Paul: None. J. Patient selection, physician experience and antiplatelet therapy testing are critical
The response1 from the principal investigators of the Stenting and Aggressive Medical Management for the Prevention of Recurrent Ischemic Stroke (SAMMPRIS) trial2 is greatly appreciated. Healthy debate helps us weed out the details that are important in these studies and future trial design. Although the principal investigators label some of the editorial comments as ‘inaccuracies’, one could disagree based on the information listed below. Let us look at the numbers and facts. First, they state that the SAMMPRIS population was the right population to test based on the Warfarin versus Aspirin for Symptomatic Int...

Response from the SAMMPRIS trial principal investigators regarding inaccuracies in this editorial
As the principal investigators for the Stenting and Aggressive Medical Management for the Prevention of Recurrent Ischemic Stroke (SAMMPRIS) trial,1 we are compelled to address a few inaccuracies regarding this study in the recent editorial by Dr Alexander.2 The first point is the patient population. The SAMMPRIS population was the right patient population to test. We had very good data from the Warfarin versus Aspirin for Symptomatic Intracranial Disease (WASID) trial that patients with recently symptomatic severe stenosis were at the highest risk for recurrent stroke.3 This high-risk population offered the best chance fo...
