Meropenem-loaded Cement Is Effective in Preventing Gram-negative Osteomyelitis in an Animal Model
CONCLUSION: In this current study, MEM cement had the most stable in vitro antimicrobial activities, effective in vivo activity while having acceptable mechanical and elution characteristics, and it may be an effective prophylaxis against skeletal infection caused by gram-negative bacteria.CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Meropenem-loaded acrylic cement is a potentially effective prevention measure for skeletal infection caused by gram-negative bacteria; however, more related clinical research is needed to further evaluate the safety and efficacy.PMID:36135966 | DOI:10.1097/CORR.0000000000002364

Intermittent prophylactic antibiotics for bronchiectasis
CONCLUSIONS: Overall, in adults who have frequent chest infections, long-term antibiotics given at 14-day on/off intervals slightly reduces the frequency of those infections and increases antibiotic resistance. Intermittent antibiotic regimens result in little to no difference in serious adverse events. The impact of intermittent antibiotic therapy on children with bronchiectasis is unknown due to an absence of evidence, and further research is needed to establish the potential risks and benefits.PMID:34985761 | PMC:PMC8729825 | DOI:10.1002/14651858.CD013254.pub2

Difference in drug susceptibility distribution and clinical characteristics between < em > Mycobacterium avium < /em > and < em > Mycobacterium intracellulare < /em > lung diseases in Shanghai, China
Conclusions. The pulmonary disease caused by distinct MAC species had different antimicrobial susceptibility, symptoms, and radiographic findings.PMID:33999797 | DOI:10.1099/jmm.0.001358

12-Year Follow-Up of Regenerative Endodontic Treatment of Immature Permanent Upper Incisors with Acute Abscess
Braz Dent J. 2020 Nov-Dec;31(6):680-684. doi: 10.1590/0103-6440202003663.ABSTRACTThis case report discusses the endodontic treatment of a 7-year-old girl who suffered trauma (intrusion) to the immature upper central incisors secondary to a fall from a bicycle. Thirty days after the accident the patient was brought by her mother for clinical and radiographic assessment with a chief complaint of swelling and tenderness to percussion and palpation. Acute apical abscess associated with immature teeth were diagnosed. A decision was made to perform regenerative endodontic treatment. Access cavities were made and the root canals ...
