Delayed euDKA Associated With Dapagliflozin After Pancreatitis
We present a case of delayed euDKA seven days after cure of acute pancreatitis and discharge from the hospital of a 51-year-old man with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) managed with a combination of antidiabetic medications, including the SGLT2 inhibitor dapagliflozin. Prior acute pancreatitis was postulated to be a contributing factor to the development of SGLT2 inhibitor-associated euDKA in this patient discharged from the hospital. The patient was managed accordingly and improved clinically while his oral hypoglycemic agents were stopped. The risk of euDKA from SGLT2 inhibitor therapy may be increased by some stress fac...

Natural Products & amp; Bioactivity Inspired Synthetic Pursuits Interfacing with Carbohydrates: Ongoing Journey with C-Glycosides
Chem Rec. 2021 Oct 29. doi: 10.1002/tcr.202100216. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTNatural products, remains the most important source for the discovery of new drugs for the treatment of human diseases. This has inspired the synthetic community to design and develop mimics of natural products either to answer important questions in biology or to explore their therapeutic potentials. Glycosides present themselves abundantly in nature, right from the cell surface receptors to natural products of any origin. The O-Glycosides are hydrolytically less stable compared to C-glycosides and this feature has presented a great opportuni...

Marked Hypertriglyceridemia in a Patient with type 2 Diabetes Receiving SGLT2 Inhibitors
Acta Med Okayama. 2021 Feb;75(1):103-107. doi: 10.18926/AMO/61441.ABSTRACTA 43-year-old male with type 2 diabetes, under treatment with 5 mg/day of dapagliflozin, was referred to our hospital with upper left abdominal pain and marked hypertriglyceridemia (triglycerides [TGs], 5,960 mg/dl). He was also on a low-carbohydrate diet that promoted ketosis under sodium glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor administration. Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis revealed a remarkable increase in very-low-den-sity lipoprotein, a TG-rich lipoprotein particle synthesized in the liver using free fatty acids derived from adi-pose tissue...
