Abstract The prevention of atherothrombotic events is an essential therapeutic goal in the treatment of patients with arteriosclerotic diseases. After plaque rupture, a rapidly growing thrombus can lead to acute vascular occlusion and thus heart attack, stroke or limb ischaemia.
