Refinement of the Intensive Care Unit Complexity Assessment and Monitoring to Ensure Optimal Outcomes III Acuity Tool
This study used a modified Delphi technique.RESULTS: Through a series of 4 Delphi rounds, the expert panel identified Domains of Care and nursing care items that were suitable to be collapsed or bundled. The number of Domains of Care decreased from 18 to 10. Each of the expert panel members then completed the ICU CAMEO II tool and the newly revised tool, ICU CAMEO III, on 5 to 10 patients. Contemporary Academic Contributions From Anesthesiologists in Adult Critical Care Medicine.
CONCLUSIONS: When compared to non-US anesthesiologists, US anesthesiologists had more CCM publications in anesthesiology journals and fewer publications in multidisciplinary CCM journals. Sedation, Analgesia, and Neuromuscular Blockade: An Assessment of Practices From 2009 to 2016 in a National Sample of 66,443 Pediatric Patients Cared for in the ICU*
Conclusions: Analgesic, sedative, and neuromuscular-blocking medications were prescribed to 63.3% of children in ICUs. The durations of opioid analgesic and sedative medication administration found in this study can be associated with known complications, including tolerance and withdrawal. Several medications dispensed to pediatric patients in this analysis are in conflict with Food and Drug Administration warnings, suggesting that there is potential risk in current sedation and analgesia practice that could be reduced with practice changes to improve efficacy and minimize risks.

Health Resource Use in Survivors of Pediatric Septic Shock in the United States
CONCLUSIONS: Children with septic shock represent a high-risk cohort with high-resource needs after discharge. Interventions and targeted outcomes to mitigate postdischarge resource use may differ based on patients’ preexisting conditions.

Association of Pathogen Type With Outcomes of Children Encountering Community-Acquired Pediatric Septic Shock
CONCLUSIONS: This secondary analysis of the LAPSE database identified no statistically significant association of pathogen type with composite mortality and morbidity outcomes. However, pathogen type may be associated with PICU resources employed to treat sepsis organ dysfunction. Ultimately, pediatric septic shock was frequently associated with adverse patient-centered, clinically meaningful outcomes regardless of infectious disease pathogen type.
