Estimates of hepatitis B virus prevalence among general population and key risk groups in EU/EEA/UK countries: a systematic review
ConclusionsThe HBV prevalence is low in the general population and confined to risk populations in most European countries with some exceptions. Screening and treatment should be targeted to people in prison and migrants.PMID:37498533 | PMC:PMC10375838 | DOI:10.2807/1560-7917.ES.2023.28.30.2200738

Postpandemic rebound of adeno-associated virus type 2 (AAV2) infections temporally associated with an outbreak of unexplained severe acute hepatitis in children in the United Kingdom
J Med Virol. 2023 Jul;95(7):e28921. doi: 10.1002/jmv.28921.ABSTRACTOver 1000 cases of unexplained severe acute hepatitis in children have been reported to date worldwide. An association with adeno-associated virus type 2 (AAV2) infection, a human parvovirus, prompted us to investigate the epidemiology of AAV in the United Kingdom. Three hundred pediatric respiratory samples collected before (April 03, 2009-April 03, 2013) and during (April 03, 2022) the COVID-19 pandemic were obtained. Wastewater samples were collected from 50 locations in London (August 2021-March 2022). Samples were tested for AAV using real-time polymer...

Prevalence of cancer risk factors among transgender and gender diverse individuals: a cross-sectional analysis using UK primary care data
CONCLUSION: Multiple cancer risk factors are more prevalent among TGD individuals compared with cisgender individuals. Future research should examine how minority stress contributes to the increased prevalence of cancer risk factors in this population.PMID:37365010 | DOI:10.3399/BJGP.2023.0023
