BeatPain Utah: study protocol for a pragmatic randomised trial examining telehealth strategies to provide non-pharmacologic pain care for persons with chronic low back pain receiving care in federally qualified health centers
Introduction Although evidence-based guidelines recommend non-pharmacologic treatments as first-line care for chronic low back pain (LBP), uptake has been limited, particularly in rural, low-income and ethnically diverse communities. The BeatPain study will evaluate the implementation and compare the effectiveness of two strategies to provide non-pharmacologic treatment for chronic LBP. The study will use telehealth to overcome access barriers for persons receiving care in federally qualified health centres (FQHCs) in the state of Utah. Methods and analysis BeatPain Utah is a pragmatic randomised clinical trial with a hyb...

Which physical therapy intervention is most effective in reducing secondary lymphoedema associated with breast cancer? Protocol for a systematic review and network meta-analysis
Introduction Lymphoedema associated with breast cancer is caused by an interruption of the lymphatic system, together with factors such as total mastectomy, axillary dissection, positive lymph nodes, radiotherapy, use of taxanes and obesity. Physiotherapy treatment consists of complex decongestive therapy, manual lymphatic drainage and exercises, among other interventions. Currently, there are several systematic review and randomised controlled trials that evaluate the efficacy of these interventions. However, at present, there are no studies that compare the effectiveness of all these physical therapy interventions. The p...

Recreational runners with Achilles tendinopathy have clinically detectable impairments: A case-control study
CONCLUSION: Runners with AT had lower activity levels, lower soleus strength, and were less tall. BMI, pain during hopping, and leg curl strength explained condition severity. This information, identified with clinically applicable tools, may guide clinical assessment, and inform intervention development.PMID:35569332 | DOI:10.1016/j.ptsp.2022.05.002

Inertial flywheel vs heavy slow resistance training among athletes with patellar tendinopathy: A randomised trial
CONCLUSIONS: Inertial flywheel resistance three times a week during 12 weeks resulted in similar pain and function benefit at 12 weeks compared with the heavy slow resistance training among people with patellar tendinopathy. Flywheel training is another exercise option for managing people with patellar tendinopathy. CLINICALTRIALS.GOV REGISTRY: NCT03917849.PMID:34384941 | DOI:10.1016/j.ptsp.2021.08.002
