Comparison of knowledge and awareness of epilepsy between medical students of two universities in Poland
CONCLUSIONS: Most students have a satisfying level of knowledge about epilepsy. Academic teachers should put more emphasis on first aid during seizures and awareness of psychosocial challenges associated with the disease. It is crucial for future physicians to not only possess sufficient theoretical knowledge, but also establish an empathetic doctor-patient relationship in order to provide better care for patients with epilepsy and other chronic diseases.PMID:37619463 | DOI:10.1016/j.yebeh.2023.109386

Cladribine tablets for highly active relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis in Poland: a real-world, multi-centre, retrospective, cohort study during the COVID-19 pandemic
CONCLUSIONS: Cladribine tablets proved safe and effective in a real-world cohort of treatment-experienced patients. However, the efficacy measures improved to a lesser extent in our cohort than in the pivotal clinical trial, which is probably due to a higher proportion of treatment-experienced patients in our cohort.PMID:37490356 | DOI:10.5603/PJNNS.a2023.0050

Experience of treatment of chronic migraine with botulinum toxin type A among aesthetic medicine professionals in Poland
CONCLUSIONS: There is a considerable willingness among aesthetic medicine specialists to treat patients with chronic migraine with botulinum toxin. The current levels of knowledge and skills in this treatment are limited, and multiple physicians declared deviations from the diagnostic criteria and the therapeutic protocol. Transferring aesthetic medicine practices to neurology treatment is common and may result in a lack of effectiveness of treatment or even intensification of symptoms. An appropriate educational programme should be implemented for all physicians authorised to administer BoNT-A in Poland.PMID:37485888 | DO...

Risk factors for dementia in Parkinson's Disease - the overuse of anticholinergic drugs
CONCLUSIONS AND CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS: The anticholinergic burden is larger in PDD patients compared to PD patients without dementia. CALS or ACB scales are helpful in this risk assessment and might be crucial to avoid the development of PDD, especially in older PD patients with multimorbidities.PMID:37357543 | DOI:10.5603/PJNNS.a2023.0041

Risk factors for reoperation after surgical treatment for degenerative spinal disease in Poland: a nationwide retrospective study of 38,953 hospitalisations
CONCLUSIONS: Reoperations within a year after DSD surgical treatment are common. Identifying risk factors for reoperation, including those related to the presence of comorbidities and the phenomenon of multimorbidity, can be an important tool in reducing reoperation rates.PMID:37345748 | DOI:10.5603/PJNNS.a2023.0040
