Nationwide experience with transcarotid transcatheter aortic valve implantation: Insights from the POL-CAROTID registry
CONCLUSIONS:: The results of the study indicated that the first cohort of transcarotid transcatheter heart valves of second-generation implantations in Poland were associated with a similar prognosis to TF-TAVI with regard to safety and feasibility. TC access may be considered an optimal alternative for patients, in whom the TF approach is precluded.PMID:36594529 | DOI:10.33963/KP.a2022.0288

A Novel Index in the Prediction of Pneumonia Following Acute Ischemic Stroke
CONCLUSIONS: This study presents factors that show a significant association with the occurrence of pneumonia in patients with acute ischemic stroke. The calculated PNEUMOINDEX consists of data obtained at admission, namely NYHA III and IV heart failure, COPD, generalized atherosclerosis, NIHHS score on admission, and CRP/Hgb ratio, and shows high prediction accuracy in predicting hospital-acquired pneumonia in ischemic stroke patients.PMID:36430028 | DOI:10.3390/ijerph192215306

Factors affecting short- and long-term survival of patients with acute coronary syndrome treated invasively using intravascular ultrasound and fractional flow reserve: Analysis of data from the Polish Registry of Acute Coronary Syndromes 2017-2020
CONCLUSION: In the consequent years, the number of FFR and IVUS procedures performed in patients with ACS in Poland increased. There was lower in-hospital mortality in the FFR and/or IVUS group in ACS, no differences in the incidence of stroke, reinfarction, target vessel revascularization and major bleeding were observed. Performing FFR and IVUS in ACS does not significantly affect 30-day or one-year mortality.PMID:36404732 | DOI:10.33963/KP.a2022.0261
